Stuff like this can easily happen without a staffs knowledge. They aren’t involved in any way with it. Schools should not be on the hook for shoe company/player deals.

The payment was 9 months before McCoy chose UNLV, and he chose UNLV over 6 other Nike schools (Oregon, UConn, SDSU, Arizona, Mich St, and Georgia) so UNLV is still pretty clean in this.

Along with the 7 Nike schools in McCoy's final 9 was an Addidas school (Kansas) and an Under Armour school (Cal).

If Avenatti broke the law, throw the bum in jail. But it is real easy to form an opinion based on only part of the evidence, or worse yet, on rumors of what the evidence says.

When it comes to Avenatti, Nike, enablers of basketball recruits, and college coaches, it is hard for me to figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad guys! So I am mostly happy when any of them gets some grief.
