Ham passed to the open guy. But the freshman K Gilbert even on the floor when you needed a hoop was total mismanagement. Back then K Gilbert could not shoot at all.
Dent scores 34. Dj 18. DJ has so much hype yet is shooting 41.6% on the year. If your best player shoots 41.6% on the year, yeah, your team will not do well. Pretty obvious they know DJ will go left all the time so they double him to push him out farther and his shooting is not good enough to counter the defense on a regular basis.
Unfortunately, CKK doesn’t have…call it cache, charisma, or salesmanship to bring in the necessary players or more critically support (money) to the program. I know he’s a former Rebel and is the son of Lon, but man the support has just totally evaporated here. We’re averaging 5-6k a game now. If that.
We’ll need an established coach with a track record of going to the NCAA. We need someone with serious experience and lay the concrete to build a foundation for a solid culture. We’ll probably have a thread at some point on who the next coach is but based on my observations and criteria, here is my list:

Russell Turner
Will Wade
Eric Olen
Craig Smith
Josh Pasternack
I’d be happy with any of these coaches, UNLV needs to stop dicking around and get a serious head coach that leads and promotes winning habits. Particularly believe Pasternack overlaps with Harper from their Arizona days, but Harper tends to lean on experience and coaching at high levels (psst Will Wade).
I think you go big game hunting and try and get another unexpected hire from the media role... you hire Jay Wright and you use Mullen to get him. You sell out hard, you put all your eggs into the "we need to be a CFP and NCAA tournament team now" basket and you find the cash to do it.

The size of our NIL will determine what coach will come. No name coach will come here unless he can get players to win with.
I'm dead serious too but I'm not writing the checks, lol... honestly that's the type of splash hire that re-invigorates the Mack and the fan base, can bring in players and coach... and you want pockets opened, that'll do it in a hurry
Honestly, if Wright was going to coach again it would be Villanova again, they are swimming in mediocrity since he left.
Obviously if Wright wants to coach in a mediocre conference with a mediocre tv deal, then you offer him whatever.
Winning time. Over last 3:47 yesterday. Unlv scored 0 field goals, 3 missed shots, 2 turnovers, 2 for 4 at the line and gave up 3 offensive rebounds to UNM. Under ckk we have had lots of these late game miseries.
As long as the AD is also predictable at the end of the season. First, Kruger will be fired. Second, the AD will find a good replacement coach. Third, UNLV basketball will become good again!
