New Lineman

Excellent. We can use him.

CHATTANOOGA---Chattanooga Mocs junior center Reid Williams is the squad's first All-America selection of 2024. A team captain, Williams was placed on the third team of the prestigious Stats Perform All-America listing.

Williams, regarded as one of the nation's top centers, spent the majority of the season as the top-rated performer at the position per Pro Football Focus College division. He's anchored the o-line since taking over as a starter in 2022 and has started 25 straight games in blue & gold, 33 overall for his career.

It's Williams' third such honor. He was a third team pick in 2023 by FCS Football Central as well as honorable mention AP this morning for 2024.

I dont know the difference. My son line up in the middle of the line and he smack the QB when he broke through.
He grab the QB by the leg and threw him less than 10 yards and got called for roughing? LOL
He quits football.
My wife and I use to love watching him play the game. The kid is naturally strong without ever lifting weights. He just turn 16 and a junior in HS. Freakish strong. He is better in the classroom. Big kid with a better brain than his parents.

Doyle was a pass rusher/edge guy, not a DL.

The edge position in football is a term for a defensive player who attacks the offense from the edge of the defensive line. The term is also known as "edge rusher" or "edge defender".

The edge position can be filled by either a defensive end (DE) or an outside linebacker (OLB), depending on the defensive scheme:

  • 4-3 defense: The DE is the edge rusher.
  • 3-4 defense: The OLB is the edge rusher.
In our system under Odom he lined up at both DE and OLB.

So yes he could be viewed as a DE/DL or OLB. He played with his hand in the dirt and standing up..He's listed as DE on UNLV website.

I think it got missed because Woodard, Catalon, and eventually Camac got the headlines; but Doyle was an athletic freak. I remember that touch down run that he had that got taken back because it was ruled a forward pass. He had no business being as fast as he was for his size.

Trip he was both DL/OLB in Odom's scheme. He's listed as a DE on UNLV site.

'Edge' has become like when people call a guy a 'wing' in basketball.

Doyle played standing up and with hand in the ground. He played a DE/OLB hybrid spot. So you calling him a DL guy is fine..
