Pac will end up with NM State for a couple of million. Some the guys over at UTEP's board are pissed that they didn't hold out for an offer to the Pac upon hearing that the NM State President and AD may be having talks with the pac. Crazy times.

I don't see the Pac being serious about NM State but, who knows. Rumors start flying and minds start going in all different directions.UTEP likely got a full share to join MWC.
PAC would likely give them a half share.
It would probably be a wash.
If that's how it played out UTEP who is way behind everyone in the PAC already would continue to get left behind. In the MWC if majority of schools are making the same, it would help them remain competitive and grow vs being the door mat in the PAC.
Purely a guess NMSU might be considered but this is a desperation move by the PAC if true.
Not bashing NMSU but they were never on the PACs radar.
I just do not see this huge value that they would have had even a year ago. The PAC2 consist of the Washington State and Oregon State teams that are powerhouse in their own minds! In football Wash St: 2023 5-7 2024 8-5 (lost 4 of last 5) Oregon State 2023 8-5 2024 5-7 attendance for Washington State dropped from 28K to 22K. attendance for Oregon State dropped from 37K to 35.8K (including home game verse Oregon). My expectation is that these two program will continue to drop off, and I wouldn't be surprised if Washington state drops under 20K attendance next year. With or without a new media contract, they do not have the money needed to cover their debts. I just don't see a value as high as they are thinking, and the longer they wait, the more likely the media will force a bad deal on them.I don't see the Pac being serious about NM State but, who knows. If TX St was offered and turned down 1/2 media share as some have said that might be the best indication that their media contract is worse than what I was thinking it would be. They may be struggling to get 8 million. Biggest loser BSU. Biggest winner Zags.

Other recent negatives are the drop off in football and basketball for SDSU and the drop off in basketball for Gonzaga. !
You both suck dog dicks. Disrespectfully.....![]()

Pac-12, Mountain West begin mediation over poaching penalty lawsuit, other legal action
The Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences began their long-awaited mediation Monday in an attempt to settle the poaching penalty and exit fee lawsuits with potentially more than $100 million at stake.www.spokesman.com

Of course we all know that Wilner is an uninformed hack so there's that. Day 3 is now half over. Bet the MW is holding firm, thinking that their cases are strong if it goes to court.
I believe it gets distributed to all the former Pac 12 schools. What happens to all the money if WSU/OSU fail to rebuild the PAC by 2026?

That’s fine. I’ll allow it. The banner is small potatoes. That was how I understood it but wasn't positive.
So in the event of a merger OSU/WSU//PAC would insist on it flying under the PAC banner.

Yes and no. What is risk is the NCAA BB credits ($) which is distributed over 6 years. Last I read the 26-27 and after remaining allocations total about $30M. That is what the Pac-2 stands to lose. As far as the rest of the windfall, it has or will be spent by 6/30/26. If indeed anything is left, I believe it would be split between OSU and WSU. Remember that almost half the windfall is from the $50M/year Rose Bowl contract that expires in 25-26 no matter what. And the few $M/year that the P4 gave the Pac for 2 years out of pity. That goes away as well.I believe it gets distributed to all the former Pac 12 schools.
No. I wouldn't. The 2 rogues have an overinflated view of themselves. They own the rights to veto any decisions by their new board and would likely demand a similar voice if their funds are coming. And lets be real, those funds are diminishing, its not worth it. Kill the Pac 12 brand maybe create a new "WRC" Western Region Conference and let OSU/WSU keep their distributed dollars that then gets split to the other 10 departing teams from 2023 which is fair enough since they couldnt build a conference and be done with both MWC and Pac 12 brands. Then work with the 14 team league to fight for better access to the CFP- either an auto bid or 2 at large bids.. you're now talking about a conference that carries real weight. That was how I understood it but wasn't positive.

2 things. One, as the Pac will only have the ~$30M in future NCAA BB payouts at risk, killing the Pac would only sting so much. $15M/team minus the then 1/12 share ($2.5M). So $12.5M each.No. I wouldn't. The 2 rogues have an overinflated view of themselves. Second, there is no reason that your plan would not work but under the Pac banner. Or PacMtn conference. Changing the name doesn't dissolve the conference. You know, Pac- to Pac-10 to Pac-12 to PacMtn.
Only in that anything associated with the "Pac" banner is now tainted as a lower tier brand and essentially defunct till you "recreate" it as some off shoot of the old brand power. Same with MWC. Id like to keep the MWC brand, but Im also realistic that it now includes Texas, Illinois and is no longer "Mountain West".. While Illinois might be stretching the Western Region brand- calling the conference regionally similar to South Eastern conference with "WAC" already being taken sounds like a better move than some odd colab between Pac and MW...2 things.
