Been reading some of the names of schools today that the MWC is looking at regarding expansion. UTEP, Rice, BYU, Wichita State are some that I've read.
Do we really want to go back down the route of either those Texas schools or BYU? That would seem like living in the past to me. If you bring in UTEP and Rice, the next schools that come knocking are North Texas, UT San Antonio, etc. Then, we are right back where we were in the old WAC days, which wasn't good for the league.
I think the only schools you bring in at this point are ones that could help generate revenue for the conference. As much as I hate to say it, BYU could do that, although you have to jump through hoops for them if the Cougars come one board.
Revenue is the bottom line for a league like the MWC right now. Can't do anything that would reduce what we are currently bringing in to each institution.
