Marion favorite for Oklahoma OC

Just do not become a team like Nebraska. A team that has a past history of success, but now has bad season after bad season piled up with more failure! When was the last time they had success?
Do we have a past history (redundant) of success?

The dude gives off overzealous pee-wee football coach vibes. And he's totally ditched whatever he was doing last year with all the misdirection and motion.

Consistency is the biggest issue with the offense this year. We still have 1-2 drives per game where we make it look so easy to drive down and score.

Other times during the game, we just make it hard on ourselves. Last night, way too many drives with picking up no yards on 1st down. It’s tough when you’re constantly facing 2nd and 10s that then lead into 3rd and longs. I’m addition, for some reason we seem fixated on qb runs in many of those 3rd and long situations.

Moving forward, I’d like to see them keep it simple. Make sure we’re getting 4-5 yards on every 1st down play, and it will make things more manageable.

That's because for how good at times Hajj has been, he can't read a defense very well and if his first look isn't there to Ricky, he tucks and runs. We also tend to allow alot of pressure and instead of having a good quick audible call available, Hajj decides to run. Mix in a lot of RPO on 3rd and short and we end up very predictable

This is one of those times where people claim we are really good at something and they’ll have surface stats to back it up and they look absolutely right.

Look how many points we put up this year. Look at the number of yards. Our offense is good.

Nope. It’s not. It’s inconsistent. There’s very little cohesion. Red zone sucks. Short yardage has sucked. Third downs.

Why is our offense “good”? Five blocked punts, some good KO/punt returns, +12 or 13 in turnovers, short fields.

The scoring wasn’t up, but last years offense was much more efficient, more smooth, could tack on first down after first down. This year it’s a slog. Hajj was afraid to throw the ball last night, was looking to run before the ball was even snapped. Yeah, it worked sometimes. But this offense utilizes a small percentage of the talent.

Yeah, all those camera shots of his face really showed that. Each time he had a bad throw, the almost interception, etc. Looked shell shocked and then Marion apparently chewing him out like he did Maiava at end of last season... something is off

I'm talking designed QB runs. We've run many of these on 3rd down, and I don't like it.

We can't pass protect against anyone decent. Hajj was running for his life all game as soon as the ball was snapped. Tom Brady wasn't doing anything either yesterday with that type of pass protection mixed in with all the WRs running 10+ yard routes. We managed a few check downs to the RB for once.

It was hard to tell how many of those were designed QB runs because there were a few where he looked like he was reading a play for a second and then ran up the middle either he bailed WAY too early or it appears the draw took too long to develop. The 3 times or so I saw this the play got nothing. Most of Hajj’s rushing seemed broken and not designed.

That’s what it looked like to me, as well.

That’s the issue with youth football coaches. They’re too busy screaming at people instead of trying to coach to make them better.

100%. Is that a coaching or more about QB limitations?
Our offense lost steam around the same time last year. Part of that was better competition, but also the book was somewhat out on us on how to slow us down.

I don't know how much is Hajj TBH. Tis is meant to be a somewhat quick read offense. I think by design he may only have one throwing read on most pass plays. Of course there are many other reads involved when it comes to the run game and the RPOs. But once he drops back, I think he had 1 read then he is meant to run, unless he thinks he can buy time in a scramble drill situation.

It seems like we are going back to the same wells a little too much.

Teams just sit on Ricky and that leaves us very limited elsewhere. Add in the RPO stuff that we ran really well vs Fresno and teams have really tried to take that away. I think We go away to quickly from guys like Burrell and just try and use Jet as a pound and ground RB, where our success in the second half really opened up because Greg's hard running. Jet made a terrific run for the TD, but Greg really got things going for us. We need to see more 2 back sets with them and allow the run, screen, or QB keeper to really be disguised. And then dont even get me started on not using our TEs... Why on earth is the offense so dead set against consistent use of a really good TE...

Good question here!
I don’t think Hajj can throw to the seam because he is too short ala Russell Wilson in the picket.
It’s a shame Ballunguy is so underutilized in this offense, he should 50 receptions and 10 TD’s!

Jet was great in that one particular run … but I thought he actually grinded out some nice chunks of 5-6-7 yards too.

I agree with Burrell. That change of pace had an impact. Things seemed to open a little bit after he got some touches.
