Looks like we have competition now

I am not so sure that CSU and SDSU are really top markets currently?

Colorado is by far the #1 college in Colorado, and is located in Boulder, Colorado which is in the metro area of Denver. The Air Force academy is located in Colorado Springs which has a metro population of almost 800,000 and is home to five major military bases: (Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, the AF Academy and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Base. The Air Force also has a world wide following on Armed Forces radio and TV. Colorado Springs is located about 1 hr outside of Denver. Colorado State is located in Pueblo with a population of 110,000, is located about 2 hours from Denver with the closest city being Colorado Springs. There are without question the ugly stepchild to University of Colorado, and on a national basis also significantly behind Air Force. I really don't believe CSU has much potential for market growth being located in a similar situation to Washington State which is also located in a small town.

!
What? CSU moved from Fort Collins to Pueblo? I had not heard that. I'd kind of like to see what map you use to identify these locations. Or get a pinch of whatever weed you smoke when you feel like posting. :)

I do like the mention of Colorado Springs. I was born there, we moved to Washington when I was 5.

I caught his error as well. That being said there is a Colorado State University - Pueblo. Probably where he picked that up.

Cant say I have much to add to these conversations besides the basketball team is a collection of the most athletic group you guys have had ever. I know the old heads will come for me for that comment. The football team is very dialed in and I can say that there are people in Boise and on their staff that are concerned. Zero clue on conference realignment.
It's been quite a while since we've had a really athletic hoops team, so that will be nice to see. Hopefully Coach Pastner can get them playing as a team and pushing the tempo so we don't have to rely on a lazy, sloppy half court set like we've gotten accustomed to seeing.

I'm pumped to see the football team. It's going to be almost an entirely new group though, so I'd imagine it's going to take some time to get everyone up to speed and on the same page.

Its a 350k metro area.

Add in transplants into Denver/Boulder area CSU has a pretty solid fan base.

Behind CU, obviously but they get better support than a majority of MWC schools.

And they haven't been afraid to invest the last 10 years.

That's the problem for the MWC. Too many schools happy to just get by.

A lot of interest in winning not a lot of commitment to it.

UNLV fell into that category until the Fertitta Complex and recent coaching hires for football.

Its interesting that Boise isnt bringing either its QB or its new "star" RB to media days. I know were not bringing in either QB on our roster- probably because its still undecided as to who the starter will be, but its a little strange that you dont bring either to the media days considering they will be expected to carry Boise this year...

I am not sure why I said Pueblo instead of Fort Collins? I must have had a brain fart, but it doesn't change my feeling that they are the third team in Colorado. My son lives in Colorado Springs!

Well you must have fallen off of Pike's Peak and scrambled your noggin. Or maybe just all the booze, gambling and various STD's from Vegas hookers got your brain messed up. Seek help! :)

Boise is a great team and well coached, but all of the media outlets and social media gurus only praise them this offseason because of Jeanty last season. That has nothing to do with this season. What casuals wont understand is that Jeanty was 100% why they did what they did last season. He opens up the passing game. He allowed his defense to sit and pin their ears back. He allowed and enabled everything for that team because of his generational skillset.

Madsen is not a good QB. Their stable of running backs are good, but none of them are Jeanty. There is genuine concern on that side right now no matter what their fanbase says on social media.

I agree. I have been saying that about Madsen since he got benched the year before. It was shocking how bad Nelson mustve been that he got beat out by Madsen, but then again if Dirk identified Madsen as a safe game manager that could take advantage of the holes a great running game created over Malachi who might've been more willing to take those risks and play outside the playbook...
The idea that they can just plug in Gaines who barely touched the ball or Sherrod who had 1 good season at Fresno, but is coming off injury and continue the way they did with Jeanty is fall advertisement and lazy reporting.. And honestly losing Dirk as the OC might be just as bad as losing Jeanty to the draft. Having that kind of experienced hand guiding the offense was critical for them when defenses showed up to stop Jeanty...
