I'm hoping he still comes our way. His twitter page still shows him wearing Rebel gear from his OV.
...and his RT of new UNLV recruits from yesterday. I am hearing he will sign with WSU.
That would be a shame to lose him. Well, CMA gave it his best shot. We did what we could.
This is the kind of drama that every team faces when you recruit good players. It's both good and bad. Here's to hoping that all our future recruits are wanted by P5 schools
The big think on our side is that their stadium is at about the same level and size as Sam Boyd Stadium which is a big positive for UNLV! Nothing I was reading from him reads like he is flipping, but you never know until the last second!
Their stadium is in the middle of campus. Their students attend the games. There isn't much else to do in Pullman so you go to the games. It's definitely a different atmosphere than what we've had or going to have. The big thing for us is LV > Pullman. Plus you won't freeze your ass in Las Vegas during the winter.

I think people overestimate the value of the stadium a bit in recruiting. Helps. Not sure how much though.
Players spend 6 games in the stadium a year.
Campus atmosphere, facilities, history, conference affiliation etc play as big, if not a bigger role.
If all else is equal sure it might tip the scales..
But as out of the way as Pullman is, it's still a P5 school, and one that had been in and out of the top 25 the last few years under Leach.
Maybe on a recruiting trip, during a game with a packed house of 50-60k fans it might matter more. But that would go back to atmosphere as much as the stadium itself.
lol. I'm talking about days of snow, ice, and freezing cold without sunshine for weeks. Pullman has all of that for you.

The best part of recruiting is the number of high level defensive players. UNLV has always had a decent offense but never a defense to back them up. If the coaches can get the defense together in time for next season, they may surprise a few teams! Considering nobody thought he could get the level of recruits he is getting in a short time, what is to say he can turn the program into a winner just as quickly?
If Reno is an over glorified truck stop, Pullman is an imitation of your corner Arco. Only rural areas between here and Reno are worse.
