Lon was here what, 7 seasons?
I saw enough of him here, how smooth he is with things and he’s a very intelligent man. Lon doesn’t just make moves. He has a plan. Seriously, he’s slow, methodical, calculating, that’s just the way he is. That’s not a bad thing. He plays chess, not checkers. And it has me thinking … I’m willing to bet tripoda‘s left nut that there is MUCH more of this than meets the eye. Yes, I know Kevin is the coach but Lon is loyal, that’s his kid, he will do anything to help his kid succeed. That’s just the way he is. And I’ve been thinking … no way did this develop last few weeks. This has been in the works.
I don’t have any first hand knowledge of what those moves may be, it would be purely speculation. But there is no way in hell it’s going to be “Kevin, here’s your opportunity” and a walk away. No, no, no. I seen enough of Lon at UNLV, he won’t allow that to happen. He is going to help, there’s no doubt in my mind. And it won’t be tiny help. He’s going to give the best effort of his entire career to ensure Kevin succeeds. That doesn’t mean he will. But it does mean he will have more than a fighting chance at it.
So while I am not and was not initially enthused with the hire, I was totally underwhelmed - IF I’M RIGHT … and I’d lay 100–1 that I am, there is going to be so much more to this than meets the eye. There’s some sort of master plan here. Seven years of Lon here, you can pick up on a lot of stuff, see where his pride lies, see what drives him, see how protective he is … bookmark this, I don’t care. Call me out if I’m wrong.
If I’m wrong about this, then yeah, underwhelmed. But when I think of some possibilities … things can be good. I know it sounds strange, laying here in the dark thinking on it … speculating some things … I hope I’m right. I think I am.
