We've been through this far too often for my liking, but remember to keep this in mind.
- Names that pop up could have been fully generated by the "interested" coach. Just to get their name out there, trying to make their name "hot", just throwing out bait to see what they catch.
- Big names can be interested with the only purpose of getting a bump in pay at their current job. Or they are forcing programs with openings to get into a bidding war - and either go to highest bidder or to increase the pay where they are at.
- Some guys might have their "dream job" opening within a year or two.
- Real talks don't happen until their season concludes, so this may take awhile, unless the candidate is out of work.
- Although the numbers I heard have been on par with what it needs to be, the boosters would be forced to pony up MUCH more than they are actually contributing. It's one thing to say double your contribution. It's another to say increase your contribution by 10x - 15x.
- This is just starting folks. Don't get too excited or too down at this point.
