Quality post!

Would be great to see several of those guys end up at UNLV! Particularly those on the defensive side of the ball.

I was poking around and I think it will be interesting on the offers we had out with the previous staff - and on players that Oregon also had competing offers out on. Especially locals!... one that I saw was WR Rome Odunze. I'm just wondering if they start thinking about the opportunities locally - with NFL exposure - and highly paid and quality staff (pending other staff hires)...

It's a little late in the game to land recruits of that caliber. We need to shore up who we have and go after our top targets now that the coaching change has been made. I would think there would be players who had not committed because of the head coach uncertainty. Arroyo needs to spend a lot of time making evaluations the guys who have been on our board and decide who he wants to go after and who he wants to pass on.

Those are the kind of guys we need to land but recruiting them starts one or two years before signing Day not one week before.

I am speaking of the attrition from Oregon, the post talks about Oregon defectors, I listed the positions of need for any defectors from Oregon.

I understand how recruiting works though.

Zachary Evans 5 star recruit RB recruit North Shore High School Houston Texas

Isn't North Shore the same High school Tim Cornett came from ?
Yes. And North shore in Houston is a football powerhouse.
I like that he has Houston ties. Conservatively top 5 recruiting hotbed in the country. Coach C has given some of our best players from the area (like Cornett) and often he is getting the overlooked guys.

If one of those guys follow Arroyo here I'll be surprised.
I would be surprised as well. No doubt that other p5 schools were in their ear during the initial recruiting process. Unless someone can be lured away by the promise of immediate playing time I don’t see it. Most of the guys want to play in the Rose Bowl or better! UNLV wont get there anytime soon.

Rayshad Jackson came here from Florida because he was only part time and ran over guys in the mountain west. Arroyo should definitely go after these types of guys.

Rashad Jackson would make plays this year that would make you say "oooohh shit, he is on a whole different level, this is the kind of player we need more of". Rashad Jackson proves it, and you can tell the difference in guys we normally get vs guys who normally go to Florida. Bottom line is we need someone who can recruit these type of athletes. With all the new facilities, hopefully Arroyo can recruit at a higher level than what we are used to, otherwise its just going to be more of the same. What is crazy is, Rashad was only a 2 star recruit coming out of High School. IDK what they are feeding their athletes at Florida, but we need to get with the program.

One of the reasons why I wouldn’t be so sad if skipper hung around. Florida players are different bread (I know you meant UF,but I love we have a couple kids from flo)

Not as DC though.

And UNLV can't afford to pay him enough as a position coach..

I doubt he stays.

Part of it is 3 years in the program at UF. Learning how to play big boy football and coming over here with something to prove. Kid is motivated.

Arroyo needs to bring in the type of kids like Jackson from Florida! It was mentioned that Jackson was/is on another level as far as talent and ability and if their are any kids similar to Jackson in Eugene at any of the positions I mentioned above than get it done! Nobody is saying recruit on Oregon's level, he can't here but he can identify and court those that are unhappy with PT and give them a new lease on things here at UNLV. Recruiting at UNLV has to be unconventional, lets see if Arroyo figures that out and exploits this method to UNLV's gain.

Don’t think you’ll see any “plan A” Oregon recruits come here. But “plan B” types we could see. The 3* types that the Oregon staff has kept tabs on but never offered. Could see 1 or 2 of those players and of course any Oregon transfers.
