its so difficult to wear. You usually don't see success on those heels. I'm very, very hopeful that people support Simon and the fans get behind the team. I really don't expect it, been through a couple of these before.

Ironically, both times, current staffers were involved. Jay Spoon and Rice co-head coached the Rebels when Big Spoon stepped down. Actually, I can't recall the designations but they functioned as such. Yeah, we saw some change, in a good way. Team played faster and looser, played better in general, and they were a buzzer beating Nick Jacobsen three pointer away from the NCAA's.

Good got the interim tag after Bayno was canned and that was a disaster internally. That's when the rumors surfaced quickly and Pitino was a "done deal" (lol). Just that and the team was completely lost. News rations literally asking how's it feel knowing they will be playing for Pitino next season as a practice wraps up. They were auditioning for Pitino, not trying to win games.

Interim coach is a very, very difficult position to be in. You aren't coaching to save a job, you are just filling in.

I don't envy any of these assistants right now.

UNLV (boosters) couldn't afford to wait though, IMO. Not for what they ultimately wanted. This team still has talent and only one team from the MWC is going to make it. The MWCT winner. Even if it was a remote possibility, what would happen if they won three? Then if they win a game in he NCAA's? It just puts UNLV/boosters in a tougher spot than they'd want. Now is easy. It isn't going to save a season, that's not the aim here. They had to cut ties when the opportunity was ripest and it doesn't get riper than now.
