Yep. It's been happening a long time, but it's getting even more out of control now with the dollar amounts. $3M for 2 years of Manziel isn't that bad, when you see these basketball guys you've never heard of looking for the same amount now to go from some no name school to a Big 10 bottom tier team. Just crazy.
So when do they start striping titles and wins from coaches as former players start admitting how much money they were getting under the table prior to NIL be a thing? It was still a rule and it was still being broken, even if its "acceptable" by todays modern game...
Probably never, they would have to strip every title starting with all the ones Wooden won at UCLA until about 3 years ago including ours.
UNLV wouldn't get their title stripped, because they already had their sanctions, so the title is free and clear!
Lol no lie that team and the ones before were repeatedly raked over the coals. Butler and I forget who else (Scurry?) were suspended to start that season so that was punishment enough. Don't even remember what for, jaywalking, unlawful watching of paint drying, stepping on a crack so they broke their mother's back or who the hell knows.
We had many players suspended, not just a few. I think Bice got suspended one game for taking a candy bar or making one phone call, one of those things. Stupid.
I think LJ and Rice were the only ones NOT suspended.
Moses Scurry, Anderson Hunt, and Butler got caught in the hot tub with Fixer Perry which was the beginning of the end for Tark.
I did remember that altar boy Rice didn’t get suspended. He was too focused on his Rhodes Scholar candidacy.
As altar boyish as Rice looked, Bice wasn’t far behind. They were always tight. I believe Rice named his son Travis after Bice.
Yeah he and Augmon before the LSU game for eating peanuts out of the snack bar and a phone call. But at the start of the season Butler and one other were out we ended up losing I believe to Kansas in a close game without Butler and one other I think Scurry.
Didn't they take Reggie Bush's Heismann away for the same thing. But Johnny Football still has his so the decided to give it back? Lol.
