Good read, in the the end he has Texas Tech, Oklahoma St., UNLV, BYU as the best 4 teams to add to the conference. I like his points of why UNLV should be seriously considered. What do you guys think? As a long time UNLV supporter I can only hope that the decision makers have this kind of thinking when they look at UNLV!

I just think BYU is a non-starter for the PAC16 or whatever it would be. First, it's an R2 research facility, they have a law school but no med school, but they are rated in the 300-400 range for AWRU. But beyond that, it's a religious private university whose core values really don't fit in with what they're selling. And those state run schools really do not want another private university to deal with.

No idea on the possibility of it happening, but that would be great if somehow we're able to get in!

Yeah, I agree on BYU, I see the "Big 12" the most likely spot for them. It's mainly the religious thing that will not let them in the Pac 12.

Las Vegas is a huge market. UNLV is a tier 1 research university. UNLV has better facilities than some of the PAC 12 schools. Many things make sense. The only thing that seems to hold UNLV back is that, at times, embarrassing football program.

Not to mention they are ong the most difficult to work with. I dont see any conference that isn't struggling even considering them based on their treatment of fellow WAC and MWC members over the years.

But if they did get invited to big or pac, I would assume colorado state would get an invite as well.

You really think that byu board of trustees would allow their school get involved with the conference affiliation fiasco? If it’s up to the alumni and fans I would say yes

That is a good thing for UNLV. They are not expanding because they do not see any viable schools to join the conference. The one major deal breaker for UNLV is a football team that doesn't win games. UNLV starts to win and we would likely go to the front of the line! Funny as it may sound, UNLV is most likely in front of most other viable schools out West when it comes to the academics as a Tier 1 school that has a medical and law school.

Big 12 here we come?? I can only hope so, we need to get out of the stinking Mountain West!

Brian Sandoval is now President to Reno. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if UNLV and Reno are a package deal IMO

Never will happen. unr is a small market school in a city that is only about 15% of the size of the Las Vegas metro area. While UNLV has issues with the football program winning, they have a large market to bring to the table.
