That whole metro Seattle area is a giant shithole of sadness. Sun shines like maybe a third of days.
I'm loathe to give anything or anyone Reno any credit but.

No doubt this summer there are a lot of people who would have loved to have some of those rainy days in Las Vegas.
I love the pacific northwest. I don't mind cloudy skies and 5 months of mist--but part of that is because it was so different to growing up in Vegas.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the Pacific Northwest. If I could afford to, I would spend the hot months there, and the cold months in Las Vegas.
My little piece of land isn't but going into the City you have to watch where you are now and I dislike being in the city in the evening hours.
I have a lot of family in Oregon, and they will never go anywhere near Portland which has become a first class pile of crap!
I haven’t lived there in 12 years, but it was dangerous back then. Someone attempted (and failed critically) to rob me. I can’t imagine now.
Portland is...interesting. I found downtown Portland to be one of the most uneven little city areas I've ever been to. Super rich affluent areas and then one half block away people shooting up in the middle of the street and having crazy psychotic breaks. I never felt threatened but I'm a big guy. I think in the right circumstances, a smaller person or a woman by themselves would definitely be at risk. That being said, I like it even for all its warts.
Of course there were areas of Seattle and Vegas that are pretty sketchy these days--but the juxtaposition in Portland is super bizarre. It's also been 5 years since I've been to Seattle or Portland so things could be worse or better than I remember haha.

The covid era definitely made things really weird. There's alot more empty downtown spaces, less foor traffic, less night life activities, etc. So naturally there are alot more rough pockets and street activities that werent there,
Been there a few times, liked it when I went in the earlier 2000’s. Was quirky but laid back and fun.
It changed a lot in the past 15-20 years. Didn’t like it at all recently. Weird to see that drastic of a change.
It's weird...San Diego has way more homeless, San Francisco has way more homeless, but somehow the Portand crazies really stand out. You just have to figure out that the people going through the bath salts high for the most part don't even know you're there even if they're staring at you and screaming haha.
To this day the most aggressive/angry/dangerous homeless people I ever ran across were in Richmond, VA. I thought I was going to have to fight for my life multiple times. After the first night there I started carrying rolls of nickels in my pockets haha.
Agreed! I went there back about 15+ years ago and it had some rough areas, but was mostly fun, now it has really gone downhill. Since Covid it has become much worse.
