I don't have the stats/studies to back this up, but I'm willing to lay big odds that there is a strong direct correlation to "success" and the total number of seasons spent in a program with your top 8/9 players in minutes played.
There are ALWAYS going to be transfers out/transfers in, it's the (problematic) nature of today's game. But those have to be the exception rather than the rule.
UNLV tried the poor man's Kentucky model of high risk/high reward and it backfired. It's a tough gamble. Even UK hits extreme highs and lows with it and Coach Cal is the best in the business at handling that type of situation.
Have to get back to having guys that spend 3/4 years in the program. Whether this means 3-stars or highly coachable, team oriented, non-circle driven 4 and 5 stars (which are far more rare). I'm not against getting the players that are (or think they are) one and done, but I feel they have to be a compliment, not the basis.
