I am really sick and tired of the lack of respect that is shown to UNLV football by most schools with the worst being school like StDSU, byWHO, and our xxxx doesn't stink Utah. At this point it is hard to argue back with them, but I hope that changes quickly over the next few years (considering how long UNLV football has struggled, I take quickly as years not months).

The latest example is the way ucla fans look at the UNLV football game with the following being examples of their level of respect for UNLV:

@TrueBruin711 @RippyBradley @BruinReport I want Would 2 start against UNLV and the other weak teams we play

@BruinReport We could probably get away with rotating QBs against UVa and UNLV. But not BYU

I am not saying that UNLV doesn't deserve the level of respect of being considered a weak team, I just look forward to that changing.

I will admit this coming season makes me nervous with a lot of sites looking at UNLV as a 2 win or less team this coming season. I personally think they will do better than that, but I have been wrong when it comes to football in the past.

We will get a pretty good read on this team week 1 @ Northern Illinois. That is a solid team/program. How we perform in that game will be a solid indicator of what we can expect. Not saying win/loss we will know the final record but scheme, discipline and effort will be on display. I think this staff will have this team as prepared as they can be week in and week out. Lets hope this translates into this team being in games till the end. Those are the things I am looking for in Year 1.

Granted I would love for us to surprise a few teams on our schedule and get some wins as well.

I get the feeling that Sanchez and company are going to be more organized than Hauck and company. I also think the coaching change will help the kids be 'more' focused than in past seasons. Could be wishful thinking on my part. Bullmastiff - do you have any knowledge of how offseason prep is going or feedback on spring practice from athletes?

Look the reality of it is, the Rebels will probably win between 2-4 games this year. The schedule is tough and it takes time for a new coach and his staff to make their mark on a program. I love the direction the program is going and the fact that there is an actual commitment to football being made by the university and obvious booster money. But it will probably take Coach Sanchez 3 years to start hitting that 6+ win mark. Until then we will have to read nonsense like that.

I only know the parents of one kid on the team now. Also even on twitter or social media I don't like to ask the players their take on the coaches as it could put them in a awkward position. Or they may say something they would regret. I will say that the one parent I did talk to said that a couple of the seniors that graduated last season wish they had red shirted so that they could be a part of program now. The parent also said that for the most part the team is really buying into Coach Sanchez and his staff. She herself said her kid who is playing this year wishes he had another year of eligibility left after this year. There are a lot of things in the works for the program.

I think you're talking about having a sense of pride in yourself as a ball player and your city and the people you represent. This all ties into the new uniforms, sound system, coaches offices, land purchase for new stadium, announcement of future players facilities, etc.
Coach Sanchez is making a difference the energy is there and it is catching on!

The newest comment from a UCLA fan. You would think he was from up north.

I'm up to 401 tickets purchased for the #UCLA vs Community College of Southern Nevada (aka #UNLV) Football Game in Sept. #4sUp

That really grinds my gears. I hope by some miracle we manage to beat UCLA. 10000 to 1 odds, but I wish it would happen.
