since these new boards are now supposed to archive forever... I was going to take a snapshot of today and yesterday, couple days before that, a couple of days after that. Just so we can use it in reference 4, 5, 6 years from now.

The cycle is going to repeat. I pray I'm wrong because it's exhausting and in the end we all lose.

This just feels - the same. As every other time. Just the same ominous feeling.

We have a weak AD, we have knee-jerk boosters who are needed by UNLV... Just a tiny perusing, a tiny glimpse into these candidates, whether real or perceived... The names are drawing heavy emotions already.

"WE CANT HIRE HIM! ITLL BE THE DEATH OF UNLV BASKETBALL"

"WE NEED TO HIRE HIM! HE'S ABSOLUTELY PERFECT"

I can't tell anybody what to do, say or think. And it's going to remain a hot topic until it's official. It should be discussed.

But it feels the same. Fans are going to splinter before he coaches his first game, there will be some fallout at UNLV, some will distance themselves further. Sides will be picked. Either on board or jump ship. Before the ball is even tipped.

If I had my way, my say - I'd ask that everybody, no matter who the hire, get onboard with both feet and support whoever it is to the very best of your ability. It doesn't matter if you think there were better options. It doesn't matter if your preconceived notions or intuitions tell you a guy is a bum. It doesn't matter if you have a premonition of the end of UNLV basketball. Just stay open and inviting to the idea that thinks DO have a chance and those chances drastically increase with undying support.

But nobody has a say in those matters and we will go as we've been going. And it's a sad, sad direction.

I could be completely wrong. Maybe the cycle is broken somehow, someway. I really hope it is otherwise, like I said, we are going to be back here in 5 years whether we hire a great coach or a horrible coach or somebody in between.
