It is pretty wild though that they legit only had 2 returning players, 1 of which was a significant contributor.

I think your point is something echoing what many on this board have been saying for 4 or 5 years, maybe more.

First year d1 considers competition, "level" of recruiting, and facilities, generally. But it also means he didn't have to learn how to do his job. He applied what he already knew at a place with more resources than his previous stop.

This shows that while you need decent players, how they are coached means tons. No way in CKK third year with the Boone brothers, DJ, and Whaley that we should have got smoked by the likes of AFA at home, and not even gotten close to ncaa's.

Yup. Even last year. Throw out the 2 bad losses, we blew leads at Utah St, lost to LMU, UNR, SDSU CSU all by a possession or 2. You win 2 or 3 of those and thats a tournament team
