From now on when prominent big men are coming out of high school and looking for a college they will be looking at UNLV. The job that Menzies is doing with McCoy and Diong is nothing short of remarkable. You can't just give all the credit to coach cause you still need kids that are coachable and want to put the work in and these guys are. But looking back at where they were at the beginning of the season and where they are now has got to be getting a lot of attention from high school kids and those that influence them.

Brandon's footwork on defense is really coming around, he's starting to anticipate where he needs to be to help out and man did he have some strong rebounds tonight. There was a lot of griping about him going on (me included) earlier in the year but not now. Might even have him shooting technicals his free throw shooting is getting so good.

Hats off not only to those 2 guys and MM but to the entire team for the hard work and improvement that has been taking place. It is so refreshing to see a Rebel Basketball team improving as the year goes on for a change.

I’m still waiting for the twin towers. In one of the games on the strip we ran two bigs and two wings. Johnson started the ball up top. We set up the same and ran like 4 different plays from the same set.

Marvin already established his big-man credentials at New Mexico State. Currently patrolling the paint for the Toronto Raptors is Pascal Siakam from Cameroon. Selected in the first round of the 2016 draft with pick #27, he has alternately started and come off the bench for the Raptors as a 6’9” Forward. The story of his NBA career is still being written. But Menzies taught him to be the player that he is.

In 2014 Sim Bhullar, a 7’5” (Yikes!) 355 lb behemoth, played for Marvin. He went undrafted in the 2014 draft but signed a free agent contract with Sacramento. He knocked around the league that season, which was ultimately his only one. But Menzies developed at least these two, to the extent that NBA teams were willing to look at them. That should be helpful when recruiting high-school or transfer big men.
