Line ‘em up: Predictions and Game Thread Hey, we got a game in a few hours.

This dude started lights out against Fresno and has progressively gotten worse week by week!
I appreciate what he did for us this season. He has a lot of good intangibles in that he didn’t pout when he didn’t start and he was prepared and ready to go and helped us move forward to a great season. He’s physically and mentally tough, and can run well with the ball, but man he just can’t pass at all.

Incredible season especially considering our starting QB punked out on us three games into the season and we lost our coach (truly) before the MWCC. 11 wins will be tough to replicate but ya gotta like the future of our program. It’s never been brighter. I’ll be trolling for recruiting and transfer announcements for the next few months!! LFG REBELS!!!

Scherer pitched two consecutive shutouts in the 2nd half vs Boise and Cal. And UNLV won a bowl game when our QB goes 5/18. I'd like to keep him.
I’d love to keep him too. Not happening but it’d be great.

His D also gave up only 3 in the 2nd half vs Kansas.

They were a bit feast or famine, had chinks in the armor, but for a change it was more feast, in large part because of the turnovers forced. And we finally had some sacks for a change.

He was excellent at adjustments. When you think of how much better our defense played in the second half of games this year. It is a shame we can’t keep him.

What a season. 11 wins and we put UC Berkeley undo .500. Go cry into your 86 “National Championships” in rugby, rowing and water polo.

Ok I’m done. Go. Fight. Win!!!!
I wasn’t paying attention who won the belt from Gronk?

Mullen didn't even give the guy a chance. I'm guessing Odom didn't give him a chance at Purdue but, I'm not sure. We will see him on the sidelines somewhere in the near future.

I wish he would have but also get it head coaches want to work with people they know and he probably has no relationship with him.
Mullen was the HC at Mississippi State when Scherer was in high school. He or someone on his staff could have very well tried to recruit him. Though to your point, even if Mullen tried to recruit him and if there is an established relationship; there is no way its to the same level with the student/mentor relationship that Odom has with him.

Odom has always given credit for al of the positives for the defense. He calls it "his" defense.

Though in these situations, who knows how much Odom was there for a part of the scheming, playcalling, etc.

That being said, I think Scherer is qualified to be a stand alone DC, he may have been that already.

If Mullen wanted to stay I would have been more than happy with that.

I'd love if Scherer wanted to stay. I'd love to see what his defense could do if he came back. But since Odom and Mullen are friends, Odom might have had a side bar conversation with Mullen on who Odom was planning on bringing with him to Purdue.
