Says he's going home to tie up loose ends then blanks her..

Can't blame her for that, a deal's a deal, the guy's a RAT!
We don't need no stinkin ginger on the sidelines anyway!!

You hit the nail on the hammer again!

The Lil Ginger looks like one of the Bushwackers!!!
Whoa? That was mind bending. I read that 4 times. Did you mean "hit the nail on the head with a hammer", or did you get cute? Either way, I picked up what you were putting down.

If this is true then I don't know how she takes any blame for this.

He tells her that he is going to take the job, and then not only does he not take it, he doesn't even call her to tell her.

He sounds like a classless POS if this is true.

I don't think she knows what the hell she's doing, rebelluver. Rubber stamping BYU's annual trip to the Vegas Bowl every year is a lot different than dealing with dozens of basketball coaches. The Irish Leprechaun just used these chumps to get a raise and his arena upgraded.

Maybe so, but until there is an actual decision she made that you can point to and say she screwed that up, there isn't much to complain about.

There is a habit here of blaming every AD we have ever had for every bad thing that has ever happened.

To me it has become like the boy who cried wolf in a way. You can't tell me that somewhere along the line we didn't get a good one by accident at least?

Not trying to say she is a great AD or anything, I don't know. Just saying I need an actual reason before I start blaming her.

I don't know what he ultimately got out of it. The promised program enhancements that have been put on indefinite hold were the reason he grew weary there. They don't have a lot of money and what they do have is mostly sent to FB.

So maybe it took a couple of days in Vegas, making Cincy squirm, is what it took for him to break through. If so, very well played on his part. Or maybe he had a change of heart. Hard to say but it doesn't matter.

How do you know she was all in with Cronin? He was obviously the first option, but it's not like we are done at this point.

So far all that has happened was that sje offered a coach who rejected the offer. We will see from here.

You don't have one guy. OSU opening killed UNLV.

And even after Cronin, there are others. Not all names have surfaced yet. But they don't woo just one guy. Even when it seemed like MC could be coming, it's not like UNLV cut off contact with others. But there's clearly a relative "line of acceptance" that's now been crossed and it has fans in a panic.

Are you referring to the line of acceptance from a fan perspective or potential coach?

Meaning from a fans perspective this is taking too long or seeming too difficult, and from a coaches perspective, it is now obvious they are down the list of options?

There was an article on Yahoo Sports this week that talked about how Oregon's search for a coach extended into April. U of O had been used as leverage with everyone from Tom Izzo to Mark Few. Before contacting Dana Altman (who was at Creighton at the time), the administration was completely out of names.

There is still time for a very desirable result to this process.

She's bad, really bad, especially when she's on the spot.

You don't start spouting off to Mitch Moss that Prick Cronin said "yes" the day before and today hasn't told you anything. Way too emotional, non-thinking, and makes us look sillier than usual.

Same crap with Rice the previous year when instead of saying he's our coach she said he's on the hot seat or however she put it.

That's right, she did make that ridiculous "hot seat" comment. Damn, the sooner this moron is gone the better. She's gonna screw us with this hire. Menzies???? Really??? The guy is stranded at New Mexico State, nobody wants him.... oh boy

I agree with the Rice part. That pissed me off at the time.

I am not seeing it right now though. I am glad she told Moss that. If that is the way it went down, then that is the way it went down. To me it makes us sound sillier if it looked like she was holding on to hope that didn't exist. She was going off his word and people should know that.

That's like propositioning 10 girls for prom and giving them each a number. "Maybe we will get to you #7, just wait around in case #3 says no. By the way even though we were taking #3 to a 5* restaurant, we will be taking you to Sizzler."

I'm actually glad that we aren't getting him, Vegas isn't suited for defensive leprechauns.

I get what you're saying and I think he is a POS, but to me it shows that there is a serious lack of respect for UNLV or TKM or both by letting that be known at this time.

Yeah, but that's the way these things work. They just tend to be more quiet and behind the scenes. You also have to realize, there are a small handful of agents handling a couple hundred coaches and AD's, so they all know what's going on. Usually the public is clueless.

I don't know about you, Joe but I get the queasy feeling she's playing checkers while these coaches are playing chess. This is another half decade of our Rebel fandom on the line here and the nickle is rolling along the curb headed for the storm drain.

You guys may end up being right. If we end up hiring Menzies I will be pretty damn annoyed and critical of her. But IF she does still make a good hire that everybody is happy with, we are going to have to give her credit.

I will wait and see what happens before I decide what kind of job she did.

Personally, I'm not the least bit disappointed...Keep looking, or give Stacey a shot.

I was glad to hear Cronin wasn't coming. I don't dislike the guy but he never seemed like a good fit to me.

Cronin back at home with his new deal.
