Got a Quarterback

I also think he can run when needed and while that may not be an RPO run first guy, I think he is the type that can create passing with his legs on roll outs and moving the picket type plays.

He may not be “the” guy as far as portal rankings go but I think he was at least very high on Mullins list of guys to get!
He's a tiny QB. If he keeps running like he does he's going to get his head handed to him sooner than later.

That's not entirely accurate... Sluka beat Hajj out after basically 3 weeks in camp. Hajj was here all Spring and summer. The fact that Sluka struggled with his passing in 2 road games vs Big 12 defenses is an aberration and because he walked away we will always have a jaded view and never got to see him get into real rhythm. There was certainly a talent gap and we got the most out of Hajj we could've expected but his struggles vs Boise and Cal show why he got beat by a guy with 3 weeks of practice... again, our judgement on the matter is skewed because Sluka quit.
Ehh, I think we saw enough from Sluka to know that he was a poor passing QB, but a great running QB.

With Hajj, he was an average passing QB, and an above average running QB. This combo served our team better, simply because we had Ricky White and needed to get him the ball.

Go back and RE-read!

I said he can create passing with his legs meaning he can buy time for WR’s to get open, not do a lot of designed QB runs.. there’s a difference in what I am saying and what you are thinking!

We may dislike him more because of it but it doesn’t make his passing better. I saw him play last year and said when he came that he could run but was an inaccurate passer and missed guys too many times for my comfort and we didn’t see anything to change that perception.

From a player standpoint, no, they didn’t think the gap was large and the receivers felt more comfortable with Hajj. Nobody is going to go on the record with that stuff, they can’t. I had some ins with summer practice and it wasn’t cut and dry with them as you might think. Maybe it was with the coaches, but not the guys who get touches.

My comment comes from watching game film. He's too aggressive for his size and unless he's lucky he won't last.

K, I wanna say something, don't hate me too much! lol, I get my one crash out post this year too (MANY of you got urs), so here's mine. Just go easy on me plz =D

I'll preface by stating I stopped reading at page two of this trainwreck of a thread. 3-4 years ago half of you would have sacrificed your first born for a target like this. I am all for it, look at what people are saying nationally because of it. People are posting SIX SEED, a ****ing six seed. That's insane. So damn unhappy here. This transfer literally landed in our lap, look at the alternatives. "compare to Sluka and HWM, are you serious? It's JUCO bro....Dude got sac'd 39 times in the ****ing ACC. How about we at least see spring camp before we crucify a kid. Who know maybe he's even the backup and other things are in the works. MF'ers will only be happy if it's the second coming of Brady these days.

No offense but he looks like he’s still in high school..like body wise.
I can agree here, no denying. But so did almost every other championship wining QB in college. Give them a ****ing worthy line and let them produce. We don't need a QB built like a TE to be successful. He's throwing footballs, not fighting Francis Ngannou.

It seems most pre-NFL avg weight is 180-210. NFL weight with regiment is 230-ish (mind you toward end of career weight). He'd be fine if you protect him. This recruit, yes undersized, is 186 with an entire offseason to do what the staff thinks he needs. I am going to trust a true QB coach in Dan Mullen.

The height doesn’t matter as much there are plenty of shorter successful QB’s. Someone mentioned Purdy. If he can play the height won’t matter. Lots of roll out passes.

Kyler Murray at 5'10, 200ish. Russell Wilson, 5'11, 200ish. Bryce Young, 5'10, 200ish.

Yes, those are exceptions to the NFL size categories. He's a year older than Ochoa at about the same 185ish. I am concerned about him taking lumps, but I am confident Mullen and company will get him the most butch O line in the MW to give him a chance.

He took his lumps in the ACC though... Its not like he wasnt sacked a bunch by bigger, stronger, and faster players than what the MWC has to offer.

Yeah, if we had landed him last year people would've been ecstatic about a passer and serviceable runner. Hes a P4 starter with an arm and ability and looking at his stats he actually ran for almost 600 yards but got sacked so much it took off nearly 300... That UVA team apparently is terrible and Id like the think a guy who knows QBs isnt whiffing on his first go at his new job.

Have a mini-tantrum, leave in disgrace, and then come back in a little bit like I did…..it’s totally healthy behavior
