I should miss more games. Maybe I'm a jinx.
Intended on going to the game, but emergency situation at work pulled me away until early morning. I recorded it before I left, but too tired to watch early morning and had to pop back in this morning. I'll try and watch it tonight. But good win. It's kind of not surprising me they're playing better without our best player. The four beside him just watch him and it makes for a horrible offense, they are engaged finally and they have some self confidence and confidence with each other.
Also - this was a bit strange. I'm assuming Whitfield's sudden departure is legitimate, for the reasons he's stating but you never know.
What I'm hearing is bizarre. And I have to confirm it with some sources that I've depended on in the past.
The whole MWC/P2 litigation regarding all the different fees, promises, etc - UNLV isn't going to get what was expected, not close. Other schools are in trouble as well though, most of the defectors, they don't have the money for the moves they are making.
In the end, UNLV IS NOT going to have the cash they expected, not close to it, and because of that, there may not be the firing which was fully intended. It'll be a circumstantial stay of execution, not a "saving of the job" by beating sweeping SDSU. Which, if it happens, is going to make for an extremely tough year next season. Even KKs most ardent supporters outside of family feel like this should be it. The coach lovers, the excuse makers, etc - they all think it's time, four years is enough of a track record to show that every year is the same as the year prior and it's not good enough. And if he returns, it's going to be to an extremely low gate and people are going to pounce with the first sign of an issue, which is a tough way to coach.
Now I HAVE NOT had this confirmed, but I do think it's reliable. And if it is true, I still think it's tenuous because you can't tell exactly what is going to happen with litigation. I mean, we thought we were getting X dollars and now we aren't, now we think we may be getting substantially less Y dollars - maybe that changes too?
I've also heard that the NIL tourney, our getting into it, had something to do with a guarantee that KK stays - my guess, if true, would be that's LK pulling some strings but I don't know. And that's totally different than the conference litigations because the NIL tourney thing has been in the works way before we heard that UNLV won't be getting what they were promised with the conference jazz.
It's all bizarre, I'll try and follow up with others tonight.
Keep in mind, there are opinions of above and rumor and I haven't hammered firm truth from it.
