Gary Patterson?

Correction regarding loser, it isn't 2020/2021, it is 2001/2002/2004/2005/2006/2007/2008/2009/2010/2011/2012/2014/2015/2016/0217/2018/2019/2020/2021.........

It is a “no brainer” to inquire with him to see if there would be any interest on his part!
Maybe, which is why I brought up reaching out.

But still that could be risky.

The likelihood that he would become our next head coach is sooooooo low is it worth the possibilty of that being leaked with your current head coach out there?

Maybe, maybe you want Arroyo to know that they are already trying to replace him. But that could backfire. Not everyone responds to that time of intimidation. Some do. He may stop recruiting as hard, or pass on better long term players for short term answers. Which I agree there should be a balance there.

Ah, that part is easy, it’s non-risky. Third parties not officially affiliated with the school handle all the initial lifting. Of course it can lead to leaks. But you and I can put out a bs leak somewhere on social and it might get some sort of traction even though it’s bs. So a leak might be a leak, it might not… all that uncertainty makes it easier to reach out, imo.

That said, it’s way beyond wishful thinking, imo.

Fair enoungh. But we have had a fair share of instances of sitting head coaches and heavy rumors of their replacement in "talks"

Ben Howland, Jim Mora, others that I cannot think of of the top of my head. They become public, sometimes to the point where the sitting head coach is asked about them.

The best case scenario for the school is if the current coach figures stuff out and starts to win, especially for football. Just because rebuild takes time typically due to the physical maturity players need develop coming out of high school.

UNLV has given football coaches fair shakes ( at least 5 years) to be fair. But the complete reset is always brutal as we are feeling right now. We all should want Arroyo to succeed. It just makes things easier financially, it prevents a potential full reset again.

I understand if you are already done with him, it has been a brutal start. But I want him to figure things out. He is a first time head coach so expecting improvement over time is fair. He has recruited very well, at least on paper.
