It seems like we will find out shortly whether or not next year is the last for the Chargers in San Diego. In the event the Chargers move to LA, what happens to SDSU football? Instead of paying the costs to maintain the stadium, I would bet that the City of San Diego, which owns the studium, would sell the land which of course means that the stadium would inevitably be demolished. Finally, if SDSU doesn't have a football program, there basketball program would have to leave the mwc.

No way, no how they would let football program go away. It has elevated the university too much and increased their brand to be allowed to be dropped. My guess is SDSU would pay for all or partial maintenance of stadium for a 1-2 years until new location found and sale occurs. That's my opinion.
Also, in the worse case scenario, they will play wherever the closest 20K+ football stadium, even if it's in Carson. SDSU is letting this play out so they can GET a new stadium.

That said, it is a potentialy very ugly situation for them over the next few years of recruiting.
