A few things happened that should have opened some eyes @ UNI. 2 guys found out that they can't get by on just their athleticism at this level. McCoy and Juiston were abused all night long. Neither one wants to get into a defensive posture and slide the feet to stay in from of their man. Both are used to being so much more athletically gifted than their opponent and being able to catch up and block shots with their superior size and ability. Didn't work last night. McCoy did a little better in the 2nd half but still allowed Koch to set up too deep too often.
The other eye opener was for Anthony Smith. Completely lost his cool and coach let him take a seat for practically the rest of the game and we could really have used him in the 2nd half. MM is the boss of that team. Play the game right or sit down.
Not even gonna talk about JJ & JoJo except to say I don't think that it is possible for them to both play so poorly at the same time again.
On to the good stuff. Clyburn really shined. Hard to believe we weren't trying to run a few things for him down the stretch but our guards couldn't get out of their own way. I thought Beck was extremely effective and was disappointed that he didn't get any time in the 2nd half. I bet after they break down the film they may wish they had played him a little more. Also Diong impressed in the 1st half. He has got some alpha dog in him and nobody is gonna just push him around. He may be moving ahead of Dembele before too long.
It was a blocking call plain and simple. You don't make calls based on results. JoJo slid into him causing both players to hit the floor. Should never have come down to that.
