expect an announcement

Nice, Sanchez had mentioned last week during an interview that he would be getting some plans together soon or at least some renderings. Nice to know there is real momentum with this.

Any I wonder if they would just cover one of the two existing practice fields or if another location is being discussed. Couple options of space between the baseball and soccer fields.

That would be awesome. To think that a high school coach accomplished in a few months what all these experienced college coaches couldn't in years combined.

Because, like someone else pointed out, he's out marketing his program to potential donors. Other ex-coaches in multiple sports have taken the lazy approach as well and didn't fare so well. This guy got that support while at Gorman and isn't sitting on his hands here.

It may not seem like a big deal to the casual fan, but it is one more piece of eye candy when recruiting season comes around again.

It will be huge to get football training, academics, offices, lounges... all of it... under one football-only roof. Then, the dominoes could start falling and other sports could claim some of the real estate in the Lied. Maybe get Marketing out of the T&M and stick them in there, as well. It's been awhile since I've been there so I don't know if I'm remembering things well, but wouldn't there be plenty of space for the building plus covered fields where the intramural field currently is? They could then move the intramural field to the current practice fields.

Sanchez is doing a hell of a job, but the success and excitement also comes from the school/boosters/donors FINALLY deciding they are going to build this program.

Sanchez and his staff are working their butts off. The recruiting class they put together in basically 3 weeks was astounding.

It really helps that Sanchez sort of came in with "his own" set of donors and boosters already. It had to have played in to the decision to hire him, and I am 100% on board with that. Even if some of the numbers that were being thrown out there don't come to fruition (though based on what I have seen, I don't doubt they will), there is already excitement and momentum propelling the football team forward. We've seen the existing football offices already get a face lift; we're seeing a huge sound system being donated for the practice field; shoot... we saw our coaching staff on a private jet on a recruiting trip!

The evidence sure looks like the money and upgrade in facilities is going to come. Worst case scenario: if Sanchez fails as a coach (which I don't believe he will), we still have vastly upgraded facilities, which will go a long way toward improving the program.

I have tried to relay your same sentiment to some of the skeptics out there. Sanchez was an absolute must hire. Even if there was no booster money could it really get any worse than its been. When your 'glory' years in the last decade included seasons of 7-5,(Under Hauck) 5-7 and 5-7 (Under Sanford) that pretty much sums it up. I like Sanchez vision and I think he has a clear idea of how he wants to move the program forward and what it will take to do it. It isn't like Hauck and Sanford didn't have vision or plans, they simply didn't have the backing to get things done.

Sanchez is taking the correct approach. Get your own house in order first and thats just what he is doing. Cleaning up/ improving the Football Offices, adding a sound system to the practice field. Using Social media to create buzz about uniforms and recruiting.

Right now Sanchez appears to be very driven to get this program on some solid footing and eventually to a higher level. He has brought up the prospects of conference expansion numerous times and the things he needs to do to make the program attractive to those conferences.

Cant wait to see this new staff/ team get to work in a few weeks when Spring Ball starts.

He said last night plans have been drawn up and being submitted for approval.
Said it should be a 22-30 million dollar building.
Expect an aggressive season ticket and fundraising campaign.

I think initially they are going to have to hope for booster money and fundraising to carry the load. A huge season ticket increase will only come with some improvement on the field. Not trying to be negative here but based on the history of the city and how fickle the fans are they will want to see something positive on the field before supporting it. It has to become the 'in' thing for people to become a part of it. Look no further then men's basketball. 80's-90's basketball was the hottest ticket in town. When the team struggled people stopped showing up. Thomas and Mack would be half empty at times.

I think the Sanchez hire and the buzz surrounding it will get a few more folks out to the games, but not so sure it will have a dramatic boost on season ticket sales initially. I think right now there are about 3k-4k season ticket holders. I would guess 10k would be the target year in and year out.If UNLV is able to get an additional 1.5k to 2k new season ticket holders this year it should be considered a success.

I hope I am wrong and this town really gets behind this team/staff. Maybe simple curiosity to see what all the fuss is about, overrides the typical apathy that most people in Vegas have for the football program, and that leads to more season ticket sales.

That's around the same figure that was being tossed around very early that the Fertitta's were supposedly going to throw into the program up front, isn't it?

Now... I am not saying this is definitely happening, but I also never heard anyone from the Fertitta side of things dispute the report.
