Remember when he wanted to come here? 3-26 this season at WI Green Bay including losses to D2 teams. On the bright side our nepo hire wasn't that God awful.
He doesn’t have the players. It’s definitely risky. He knows the game inside and out, obviously.
That doesn’t mean you can teach. That doesn’t mean you can recruit. That doesn’t mean you can manage people or a department.
Doesn’t mean you can’t do it, either. In my mind, Greg would be great here. But I’m fond of him and we know he’s very smart and he’s a winner.
But that does not mean he’d be a great coach.
That’s why when people talk Xs and Os win games, I really think it’s overrated big time. They all know their stuff. How it’s conveyed, the types of players you have, etc - can they execute your Xs and os?
I agree with that.He doesn’t have the players.
"Anyone who can figure it out will last." They will last as a coach - but they will be plucked away from G5 by one of the 15 P4 programs annually looking for a coach.I agree with that.
But it’s no longer identify a hidden gem in HS. You can’t compete for HS guys who are ready to contribute either. So you rely on transfers. If they’re impact, they cost a lot. If not, they cost a little bit you only get a year or two.
It’s easier to turnover a roster from crap and find some success, with luck. It’s harder to build a team though, too.
Anyone who can figure it out will last. Without a good NIL, most won’t.
