Pondering all things Rebel basketball today (as I do every day), I was thinking, why aren't we being talked about in the media as being preseason ranked?
Around here we're more than used to the preseason hype, followed by the real season reality. The high followed by the low. It always seems inevitable and we wear it so well, year after year.
Is it because we lost Christian Wood and Rashad Vaughn that we're not ranked? Is it because no one believes that Dave Rice can actually coach this team into a Top 25 caliber squad? Is it because we're still too young and prognosticators want to see before they believe? Maybe a little bit of everything?
Lots of teams get ranked based on potential, without ever seeing the kids play. Other than the "paltry three-star" Patrick McCaw (tic), we have four and five star kids starting on this team this coming season. What gives?
Are we really the one school that gets shafted by the coaches and media? Seems unlikely.
Or do we just not see this team clearly for what it is. Not worthy of being ranked?
