Donovan Dent

Boyd and Gwath from SDSU are in too.

From the SDUT:
"Dutcher estimated Gwath will command “in excess of $1 million, maybe as high as $1.5 million or $1.7 million” the way the market is trending this spring."
It's getting ridiculous. Soon only big schools will be able to afford players, and schools with big-time donors like BYU. Is there a mega-billionaire or oil sheikh UNLV can go tap?

Soon is actually now.

Seriously though what is the ROI for a school like UNLV? Spend $7.5 million on 5 starters and increase your attendance from 3,000-15,000 add in other revenue and exposure doesnt that pay for itself? How many students enrolled at UNLV in the early 90's because of Basketball. I did, my wife did, basically everyone I knew did.

I think schools will need to find a way to have players sign contracts so they can keep their services for 2 or 3 years. At least assign a buyout for the player so the school losing his services receives compensation. Make the P5 schools pay through the nose for them!

That's the next step.. include buyout or finders fees

Exactly. That’s how it works in every professional league. But guess there are one year deals which which is where we are at today.

The day of the underdogs are gone. NIL has killed CBB. They need to make it about bit of a even playing field. For one put the contracts out there so everyone knows how much they are getting paid. So agents can't lie. Let everyone know when schools default on payments, allow for multiple degrees so they can play 7-8 years to even the playing field. If some compromises are not made then you might as well as split P4 UP with the rest of DIV1,

I’ve come to the realization that the G’s can’t compete with the P’s anymore.

FIU vs SDSU in the FF was a fluke. Now both teams are depleted and the entire S16 is P’s.

That’s why I’d view a run to a S16 the same as a FF. The odds are really stacked against us (us meaning all G’s).

No underdogs this year in the SWEET 16 when was the last time u had that?? Unless u want to count 10# Arkansas as one. ALL 6 seeds or lower. ALL from P4 conferences.

I was thinking the same. It seems to me that two wins would be like a G5 final four. And it will get worse as revenue sharing ( on top of NIL ) kicks in. This years $ 20 mil is the cap but it will increase by 4% a year till it hits $ 30 mil. All P4's will pay out the max. Very few G5 's will be able to do it. The rich will just get nearly all the players and the few that squeak through to the G5's accidentally will just transfer once they are identified.

They absolutely need to split the haves and have knots into different conferences. There is no way getting around this anymore. NONE! Unless u expand eligibility. 20 million? That is 150 k for every football player and BB player. Any kid will go to P4 over going to non P4 98 times out of 100. IF u adjust to starters to bench that increases to 300k ish and thats at 20 mil. increase that 50% when it goes to 30 mil Not including the NIL the good players get. Good % will be millionaires with 4 years at a P4 or close to it. Can not compete.

My math might be off ,but not the logic.

The odds are stacked, but I think it had alot to do with the committee forcing 14 SEC teams into the field. It really messed up seeding and took away alot of the upset potentials we're used to seeing...
