Man, not that he was every great, but he was at least serviceable and looked like he belonged on the court. Right now, he’s just not doing much.

I don’t think this is anyone’s “fault”. Diong works hard and is a good teammate.

I don’t think he was “coached up” by Menzies nor “coached down” by Otz.

I think he’s just a victim of circumstance and his confidence probably took a blow. We have a few free wheelers on this squad and they don’t make anybody better. He’s kind of a statue that grabs an occasional rebound in this offense. With Menzies, he was still a last option but he had more opportunity.

This happened last season, as well. I remember, even with MM, thinking Diong had a chance. No, not NBA or anything like that. Just a serviceable big who helped you big in a few games, was usually just decent enough, and hurt you in a few games. Not last year. He’s the same as this year. A rarely positive factor, usually invisible just eating minutes ... sometimes kills you.

If he were able to see the future, I bet he’d have transferred a couple years ago to a more fitting scheme.
