So you think Kevin deserves more time. Do you understand he is 40-34 in conference during his tenure? That is putrid. Of course that would be good for Fresno or some other programs but this is UNLV. UNLV is STILL top seven ALL TIME in NCAA winning percentage. So you think Kevin’s boring style of basketball , enough to draw 3-4 thousand a game warrants him coming back? Or maybe his roster construction prowess? Our power forward is the best player we have to bring the ball up court . Disgusting watching other teams with so much more talent.He is unbelievable bad at almost every facet of being a head coach. Can’t recruit. Can’t schedule any big time T&M home games. Can’t get us anywhere close to an NCAA tournament.
Now I understand you are from San Diego and probably secretly loves watching UNLV stink, thus the adoration for Kevin. But, I’m pretty sure , a high percentage of Rebel fans can’t stand Kevin and his vanilla attitude, and overall lackadaisical demeanor.
Is Kevin a nice guy? Yes
Should he be fired? Of course
I have been a season ticket holder since before Tarkanian. Hopefully this is not my last year but if he comes back I’m done.
I’m sure the administration doesn’t really care if I renew, a couple less people in the stands .. no one would notice.
It makes me sick that this decision seems to be questionable. But if he is fired…. Happy days could be here again.

Ed took shots at the program when we were ranked at an NCAA at large in the middle of the season. If things have momentum, Grainey hates it. He’s happy when we suck.

The only reason that bringing him back makes any sense is having the money to pay off the buyout AND bring in a quality coach that will demand more salary.
His salary is relatively cheap with a reported extra high buyout? ( I don't know how his buyout can be more than his remaining salary, even with this just reported extension).
We did just spend a bunch of money on Mullen, even if Boosters fronted a lot of that bill, do we have the booster support to do that twice in 1 year?
I don't know, but the other article with the anonymous booster did seem to indicate that moving on from Kruger wasn't going to be a Herculean task either. So that is good.
I believe in coaches getting better, but the decisions/approaches that this staff has made has had drawbacks. Obvious ones in my eyes. Yet none of these approaches are really being addressed.
WE still have a brand new team every year. We have really 2 returners from last year that is in the rotation and that was DJ and Hil This was supposed to be the year with the most carryover. Other teams in our league have done better with more consistency.
We still have no offense. Watch the tournament, watch high level teams that advance. They all have solid defense, rebound well, and can generate buckets from team offense. ( 0 for 3)
And that defense. we purposely try to filter everyone into the middle of the key so we can converge. This leave guys wide open for shots and rebounds.
During this run, we are helping a little less often and we are actually sharing the ball, holy crap it is working. But deep down inside, if DJ came back for the tournament (which he won't), do you think that continues? After 4 years I don't think so. He will turn us into a one man team yet again.

It's good for buisness when we suck. He built a brand on being like Cowherd and being negative where he can be. It draws more views and more attention than being good and writing pieces that praise that. If he's able to rant about UNLV on his show and in the paper it draws listeners.

I understand his motivations and he will hide behind the cloak of media being impartial and a noble profession.

It’s one reason I like Geoff Grammer. A sense of humor, doesn’t stick to any one narrative, he can shift, it feels more organic, more genuine with him. He can laugh at himself, rib in a good natured way.

Grainey is more like Done Deal Dave - arrogant, smug, agenda driven.
