D1 to DIII after making NCAAT THIS year!

I expect to see a lot more of this happen in the next few years. DIII does not provide athletic scholarships. Now an athlete can get NIL, which the courts have said is their right, but they will need to pay their own way through college. This will be a loss of several hundred or more scholarships for athletes just from one school saying NO MORE!

Coaches still find ways to get athletes scholarships at DIII.

Very limited abilities for financial aid type scholarships, and they do not get a free pass on grades, and they do not get any of the other extras like room, board, food, etc....
That's true on the extras and definitely true on grades. My son plays baseball and has a few offers from schools where he is getting educational scholarships that he and his 2.9 GPA wouldn't normally qualify for. But they definitely focus on the grades a few schools won't offer him for that reason. Depends on the coach it appears.
