I think this deserves its own thread. I encourage you guys to watch Anthony's highlights. Remember, these are true freshman and sophomore highlights versus teams that normally had more talented than UVA.

I love the quick release and gunslinger attitude. He is also sneaky quick and athletic. Can definitely keep teams honest with his legs but more on rollout and keeps and squeaking through the LOS for 20 yards when coverage is good.

I would say that I would caution using him on designed QB runs inside the box versus LBs and DL. Would worry him holding up

Reminds me of Brock Purdy little bit and I bet a tape of his interceptions might show some of those same mistakes trying to make a play rather than just blowing the reads altogether. I could be wrong, though, that's for sure

Got him for both his Junior and Senior years too after having almost 5000 yards passing in the ACC as a young player.

Anyway, I like the signing in an Omar Clayton kinda way if you want a Rebel comp lol

Do you think Mullen is a home run hire, didn’t you say that? If so do you think he deserves the benefit of the doubt or do you think you know best? Nobody is predicting anything but I think if Mullen was the guy, you wait to gripe until next season, I will wait and see!
When you’re the optimistic one, we are in trouble. 🤣

Please take that with the humor that’s intended.

You lost your mind about 'UNLV missing out on Malachi Nelson' for a bunch of 'FCS guys'. UNLV ends up with a chance at the CFP, while Malachi will be on to his third team in three years and was visiting UTEP of all places.

So pot kettle black and all that when calling out people for not trusting coach evaluations.

Mullen deserves his guy and has earned that but it wasn't Rebel Net who benched him at the end of the season.

I've read that described two ways. 1. He was benched for poor performance in the prior three games. or 2. He notified the staff he was going in the portal and they benched him.

The guy that replaced him had a poor performance in the final game. ( 9/36 0 TD 2 INT 54 QB rating)

But according to Rebel.net, he sucks

I don't get a he sucks consensus.

I think more Mullen knows QBs and this is his guy. Have to trust his evaluation of him.

I think the one stat that does catch your eye is the TD/INT ratio if you were looking for a negative.

But based on the schools looking at him there's definitely reason for some optimism.

Pardon me if I'm the only one on the board without a Woodie over this guy. I don't think he sucks but he's not Homecoming King either.

Colandrea Yds - 2,125 TD - 13 INT - 11 QBR - 42.7

Williams Yds - 1,941 TD - 19 INT - 5 QBR - 62.9

Hell yes Mullen is a home run hire and knows QB's. But at the same time I can read. And his stats for this year are worse than Williams. And the idea that Williams was playing inferior competition doesn't really hold. If that was true then every QB in the MWC should be playing lights and every QB in the SEC should suck. Yes, Colandrea played against defenses that were better than MWC defenses - BUT he had an offense that also was P4 caliber. Compare apples to apples.

Nice highlights. Kid has some gumption standing in the pocket and throwing darts with linebackers coming down on him. His throws get to the receivers much more quickly than his size would indicate. He also evades linebackers well when he runs, similar to Hajj. I don’t expect him to play like that on every down, but it sure will be nice to have a QB who hits his open receivers in the chest rather than the ankles on most passes.

Looking and taking are two different things. Odom was able to bring in 100's of recruits during the year, but he never was going to take them all.

I get you! 🤣

You all know I am okay with telling the emperor you got some holes in your armor.
UNLV football and basketball have had their holes no doubt and I don’t mind saying so even if I’m the only one saying it, but I will let this new QB at least get here and work with Mullen before I condemn him to irrelevant!

Not sure I understand?

I'm just saying three schools thought enough to bring him in for a visit. What their overall interest was or what UNLV offered to get him here I don't know.

He had at least one WR he could throw to that was similar to RW3. But his O line was smaller and lighter than UNLVs’ with P4 defenses in his face all game long.

Our smallest O linesman was our center who is taller and heavier than their starting right guard. Across the board at every O linesman position, our guys had 10-30 pounds and a couple of inches of height to their guys.

Our offense struggled against Boise’s defense. Four of his final 6 games were played against ranked opponents. Three of those opponents were ranked higher than or close Boise at the time.

I’m trying to figure out who this poster Rebel Net is. So many varied opinions everywhere … yet this entity Rebel Net is always wrong.
Lol yes the one constant is the termites are always wrong.

Yeah I didn't see anyone say he sucks more like along the lines of they were hoping for something better but it doesn't mean he is Tate Martell.

Did he visit? I didn't see that.
Recent blurb about his commitment to UNLV.

'On3’s Pete Nakos previously reported three other schools were in the running for Colandrea, with two coming out of the ACC. Pitt and Syracuse hosted the quarterback on visits, in addition to Ole Miss’ involvement.'

Looks like Pitt and Syracuse visits, says interest from Ol Miss no mention of visit there.
