what do you like and not like so far?

Like: tight ship, few leaks, public list seems realistic and decent(but then again it has been quiet so maybe that list is way off)

Not like: possibly no contact with Mike Miller (assuming this is coming from the miller camp, wanting contact) If true then that is disappointing, unique candidate with background that at least deserves a call. Also feel like not really going after any coaches with west coast ties (again based on limited information) closest is Grace’s name was mentioned. There are not a ton of quality candidates out west but still don’t like not looking at any west coast coaches.

Like/not like at same time, looking into taking musselmen from UNR.

So far so good for the manner in which the search is being conducted. They lack of leaks would make me think that DRF isn’t being played, unlike the previous coaching sesrch.

Shaka is a name that is interesting. Still no news on what will happen once UT is out of the NIT but the amount due would be impossible for all but a few schools, Texas being one that could afford. There are rumors Shaka would agree to a settlement if the right school was in play afterwards. He does not like the basketball atmosphere at UT.

What about Jay Wright ? He's only making $2.5 Mil currently and he was an assistant here once.

My biggest fear is that the powers involved in hiring the next coach over estimate the attractiveness of the position. I suppose if there is enough money in the pot, that might make the job more palatable.

I also like that the search is being conducted on the QT. Meanwhile, I am a believer in "no news is no news."

Great program that he resurrected, national contender annually, strong conference, toast of his town vs desperation and instability... if he’s got a couple screws loose, sure, why not?

I know we bust on it and it is not like it was in the 80’s but in the last 20 years UNLV has shown to be able to have a top atmosphere. They have shown to also have a bottom level if they aren’t winning. Now their are questions if that can still happen with the Knights and Raiders, but Texas will never have even Rice level atmosphere.

I don't think he's coming unless Texas is willing to buy out his contract and fire him.
