For such a crappy team we had, we sure have lots of guys who think they showed enough to get more money. I think we would have seen similar even if Kevin was retained.
We had a bad team that underachieved. The problems were wide and varied. I don’t care if we start completely fresh. I don’t mind holding onto couple, but none of these guys did anything to elevate the program.
Couldn't compete against players his size. No elevation and couldn't rebound. He did do ok against smaller competition. Would of been a good bench player on a top 25 team wish him well. I won't miss the 50 % free throw shooting.
No game at all, except around the basket, no rebounding nothing.
He's a nice lower player in WCC or big west, he be good at Pepperdine etc type of team.
The recruiting by KK, basically stunk, not as bad as his coaching.

They aren't transferring for more money... not every kid that hits the portal is doing it for NIL increases. Maybe Cherry doesn't feel he fits in Pastners plans or doesn't want to stick around and potentially be recruited over... same with Henley and Whaley.
What kind of NIL do bench players like this get? A free bucket of popcorn at Regal?
I thought he was very soft, opposite of what the previous regime advertised last offseason.

Yeah. He was a “beast”. People took at and ran with it. Rob was similar.

He would be 210 pounds under Pastner and real conditioning.
I hope he gets it but I’m not seeing an increase of NIL for “bear.”
I agree that he would be a “bear” at a lower level where the center is shorter than 6’5” and is nursing injuries to both knees that require him to stand still and be unable to jump.

Whiting also enters the transfer portal. Leaves UNLV with N'Diaye, Hicks, and Bannarbie. WOuldnt hurt my feelings if Hicks and Bannarbie entered also. Would like N'Diaye to stay but wont be surprised when we have zero returning players
Heard that the staff was "too scared" to recruit those areas.
They did get LuRod (Los Angeles) and Hall (Denver/Cleveland), they both had an attitude but weren’t harnessing their emotions correctly. Staff couldn’t rein them in and gave up.
I don’t think CKK handled things well due to inexperience and with NIL, went after guys that were not “problems”. Guys like Muoka, Cottrell, Hill etc. Probably one of the softest teams ever fielded, they were struggling vs Air Force in the tourney.
These are very good examples. I 100% agree. I want to add that the emotions thing may be a bit overblown by media and fans.
All I know is that when the three players who supposedly had character issues here left, they blossomed and did very well at their next stop. Gilbert averaged 13,4,and 4 in two years at ISU. Jackie averaged 20, 3,and 3 and shot above 40% from the field as Fordham's number one option. Hall averaged 19,7,and 2 as a Big 12 Starter and scored 20+ against Baylor, Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Arizona.
Each one of these players can go far away from here. Stop caring about players and their individual futures and start caring about the brand again…. players are not required to have loyalty anymore, so they get none from me. Show up to your job and make the brand look good…if you don’t want to or you can’t…then hit the bricks. Coffee is for closers.
Sadly, that seems to be the way it's going to be. Especially for the non-P4 teams. There are going to be like 30-40 teams in the country that get 1st dibs on recruits, based on how much money these schools are able to offer, and everyone else is waiting for the leftovers. It's basically the NBA, but with all 1 year deals and no salary caps, or effective rules on tampering.
Players and coaches have no loyalty due to the obscene amounts of money but let’s keep in mind that Kevin was more of the issue with the 3 mentioned above. They seemed to fit in just fine in their new locals… hmmm, must have been the coach!
