I hear posters expressing concern about what OTZ is going to do about a center when Diong is gone. I think there is an easy answer. We won't have a traditional center.

He didn't have or recruit a traditional center at SDSU for his three years there.

It looks to me like two philosophies influenced this. First, he is disinterested in Offensive rebounds. His teams were ranked 232, 230 and 323 in offensive rebounds. If you look at film of his teams he does this because he has high interest in getting back to both prevent fast-breaks and to set his defense. Second, he is totally invested in having all his players ( at least those who see the floor ) be able to shoot and be able to drive and finish. There aren't too many traditional centers who have these two traits.

IMO, after seeing Diong run the floor and be a shot-blocking backstop he may change his mind.
But recruiting doesn't really show it. He has two Centers on the Radar. One is for this year and I don't see him being able to add anyone. The other is two years out which shows to me he isn't concerned.

I think we, as fans, have to let the recruiting play out and stop looking at it through the lens we've had for the past few years. This guy is different, but I'm sure he has a plan and will stop at nothing to get to where he wants.
