I hope this isn't turning into a New Mexico style blood bath with the number of transfers. No doubt the coaches that are leaving have told the players they will not be staying. Without a question the special teams and defense coach are gone along with many of their players.
Its going to get worse before it gets better. I am fairly confident that Mullen will be able to recruit to a high standard. But it still stings. I liked most of those guys, and would have loved to have seen a deep returning class. Though, some of these guys might not be headed to Purdue. I am sure a few of them were going to move no matter if Odom stayed or not.

Just have to embrace it instead of crying about it like Lincoln Riley was recently.
We’re going to get a lot of good players, we’re gonna lose some good ones too. Just the way it is, the most important thing is that Mullen keeps that culture of winning and working hard in place. CDM was on ESPN saying he’s been given scouting reports on every player on the team, new recruits, and every one in the portal. He said his son is real excited and they go over everything at home.
He’s probably going pro. He’d be a great one for the CFL but I can see him being a specialist for an nfl team as well if he tests well at a pro day.
I think this cycle of portal won't be too kind on us. But the spring one should be fantastic.

Only silver lining is that we played in an early bowl, so gives time to react rather than these players leaving after January 1st bowls. Hopefully someone of these players end up coming back, but if not.. nothing but love for how they played and changed the trajectory of the program.
There was ALWAYS going to be a lot of turnover at the end of this season.
I trust the competency of Mullen, and the staff that he's bringing on board. We're going to look very different next year, but we should still be a top team in the MWC.

That was baked in. When you are a G5 school with limited resources and coming off a 11 win season AND being a Top25 program. The big and well funded programs will be looking at your players.
It’s why Odom left. It wasn’t going to get any better than this group under CBO.
I’d bet CDM convinces 30-40% of our portal entrants to stay. Suspect some are just testing the waters as well.
I think you have to enter portal to even reach out to other schools.
With the JC ruling, maybe call Jose and see if he wants to come kick for another year.. lol
Not shocked to see Jackpot hit the portal. He was never staying here more than a year in all honesty, especially with Marion on the move every year or two. Hoping that McGee is convinced to stay. Completely surpassed Jackpot on the depth chart.
Kinda. We're basically on the same clock as everybody else now. More guys will continue to enter over the next few weeks as bowl games wrap up.
I think it's going to feel like sky is falling initially for sure though.
I don’t have any insight in that regard, just basing it on having a few players enter the portal last year and deciding to stay plus the upward momentum of the program and bringing in CDM has got to be entering into their equation.

Might be tough with Vance Vice being out. I think we'll have a better idea by Friday as to who our primary coordinators are. I don't expect Mullen to dawdle with filling out the rest of the staff. Its good to see how active Mullen and his new Chief of recruiting have been on their own.
Also likely that some of those coaches may bring a few players with them.
Mullen pretty much confirmed last night that our offense will be based on "spreading it out".
It appears that he does, but it also appears he may be looking at moving to a higher level team from what was written.
The Juco thing was just an injunction. It's not the general rule and won't apply to everyone as of now.
correct. Every player will have to file their own injunction. It's not a rule change.
