One of the main guidelines the board requires is that "diversity efforts" are made and documented (and reported, in writing to the board). If any of you followed previous hires, in recent years, you'll know the board has brought this issue up, and I'd have to imagine they'll be upset if it weren't addressed this time around.
As we've pursued a handful of white coaches recently, I've wondered how TKM is going to address that guideline. I'm not saying that's why Menzies is being considered....but, it would help the AD to address the guideline.
From my point of view, Menzies definitely wouldn't be the worst hire, like some are alluding here. You can rip the lack of talent in his league....but for 9 years, never finishing lower than 3rd place in conference, that's fairly impressive....regardless of what's said here.
