Longtime Final Four broadcaster Packer dies at 82

Longtime college basketball commentator Billy Packer, the voice of the NCAA tournament for more than 30 years, died Thursday night. He was 82.

I have fond childhood memories of Mussberger and Billy Packer calling the NC game in 1990. They seemed to be fair and supportive to Tark and the Rebels on that broadcast. Definitely gave them their due that night.

Lol, I mean I didn’t follow him much later on. Not sure if he got on the Duke hype train in the 90’s and 2000’s. You may be right too but had to mention that memory of Mus and Packer for the final four and the LMU elite 8 game.

Yeah, Packer was a big Tarkanian mark...he was in awe of Augmon and Johnson that night. RIP
