Obviously, there's nothing more than any of us want then for UNLV to be elite and go deep in the NCAA tournament. But I think people are confused. You don't need to be a elite to have success and making deep tourney runs. In some cases, in this kind of era we are in, being "Elite" is kind of overrated if that makes any sense. There is so much parody in college basketball. Butler, Wichita State, Gonzaga, Pittsburgh aren't "elite" programs (Duke, UNC, MSU, Kentucky) and they still have gone to final 4s, elite 8s, number 1 rankings, etc.
There is probably a really good chance that UNLV will ever be "Elite" but that's ok. They can still be a Final 4 contender, have lots of success without doing doing so.
Being "elite" is better better being a top 25 program again doesn't suck either and we can still reach our goal in March.
