Need some guidance. My Cox-provided internet consistently goes out for brief periods (eg, 10 seconds) thru-out the day. Cox says I need to upgrade to fiber (at no charge). The 3rd party Cox contractor comes out and says it’s a no-go bc the fiber connects to the traditional telephone line and the line in my home is old (a level 3 not 5??). Long story short, apparently I can’t add fiber but the traditional cable-based internet is continually spotty (which ironically didn’t start happening until Cox began pushing the switch to fiber). Am I being fed a load of BS? Are there any viable alternatives to Cox? (Which really should be spelled Cocks bc they flat-out suck)
TY in advance for any guidance!!

I think what he is talking about is that you need to upgrade your "telephone line" to a Cat 5 ethernet cable. I have Cat 6 ethernet cable which you could use as well. If you plan on staying in your home for a long time then you might want to have that line upgraded , "my preference" to Cat 6.

Thinking about this some more you could have an electrician run your Cat 6 ethernet cable to the origin point (the point where COX will connect their box with their fiber and connect it to your cable). To keep this inexpensive just have the electrician run the Cat 6 to a point in your home where you can connect to a WiFi 6 router. Depending on the size of your home the cable run doesn't have to be far away which will save money. More than likely COX will want to provide you that piece of equipment (Wifi 6) for a monthly charge. Doing it this way you won't have to run branches of ethernet cable all over the house and you won't have to replace your old telephone wire (Cat 3). Check with COX if they can refer an electrical company they work with to get an estimate and if they work with COX they will know exactly how to do it. It would be the least expensive way to do this that I can think of right now. Once this is done then we can return to the conversation of running individual ethernet cable to other points in your home to maximize the quality to places where you have televisions or your main computing device.

All-Bran or any other cereal your grandparents parents have in the cupboard.
That's what I thought when I read the thread title. On cereal, you really have to check the label. So many of these seemingly high-fiber cereals really don't have much fiber at all - 2-3 grams maybe. Fiber One (Honey Clusters not the original) is the cereal to buy. Tastes pretty good and has 10 grams of fiber. And bread. I buy Franz "24", it has 4 grams of fiber per slice. Compare that to your Wonder bread - which makes you wonder where the fiber is.

I second this. You can have them run in cat 6 and modem into your garage as a bridge point. From there you can connect it to a mesh system with pods. I’d go for wifi7, though you probably don’t need THAT much bandwidth. I’m averaging 145 mbs on download and 61 mbs for upload speeds on that set up.

Under ideal theoretical conditions, wifi7 4 times stronger than wifi6 (40gbps vs 9.6gbps)

I mean come on man..

We can't even have a football thread about the importance of OL play without it devolving into pure chaos. You had to know this would happen.
