Athlon MWC Preview

They rank the team #122 in the nation with a projected record of 1-11.
I would guess the one win they are projecting would be Idaho State with the projection being based solely on FCS vs FBS.
I'm looking forward to the Phil Steele magazine but Athlon is more through this year than usual with details.

Yeah Athlon has us down with seven returning starters when there is in fact eleven. Great journalism. Way to fact check. You think if you're only job is to write about college football teams that you would get at least this right.

Phil Steel is already out. I'll wait until you post a new thread about that one too before I comment. Big surprise with that one too.

It's amazing how accurate Athlon and Steel year in and year out. LOL. They don't put a lot of effort into G5 and it shows.

BTW, Athlon picked UNLV to finish 3-9 in 2013 when they actually went 7-5. I guess plus or minus 4 is fairly accurate. SMH.

These are not surprising rankings. This was a nice first class for Sanchez and his staff but it is impossible to know what impact if any these players will have year one. Our track record the last 5 years says 1-3 wins is about what to expect. Plus factor in the unknown of how Coach Sanchez will adapt to the college game and it makes sense. I think the team will be better than that but not by much. 2 wins possibly four if the ball bounces our way. Not a knock on Sanchez and his staff, I just think there will be growing pains years 1-2.

Weak article when you're ranked past 50 moreover past 100 these are the type of write ups you get. It's UNLV's job to slowly start climbing out of the cellar of obscurity and make some local noise then the national press will start tuning in.
