Let’s see what happens after tonight and next week. That will give us the real picture. Right now: 1 fcs win, 3 FBs win, 1 P5 loss. While that may look like the heavens opening up for UNLV

I'm glad that we appear to be heading in the right direction as a program. We are one month away from hoops and there is barely any talk about that. This isn't normal from our basketball school.

We've lost to many bad teams before so winning these games is why I'm gaining optimism. We may lose the next several, but we have looked like a real team thus far.

Exactly. We haven't really beaten any great teams, but these are the same teams that we typically lose to each year. Plus, the fact that we seem to be making great half time adjustments, while also not getting out manned in the 2nd half, whether due to depth, conditioning, or whatever. So many times in the past 20 years, we'd look good in the 1st half, then get destroyed in the 2nd half. This team is different in so many ways. Keep it up Rebs!

Liquidate the gender studies and art history departments and give him their budget as his salary/staff salary. That should about do it. Also the school’s average starting salary for new graduates will also statistically rise and boost our rank. Win-win

Arroyo's resume was pretty solid before his time here. So I do think that plays a role.

Now it is an interesting case. You look at his total record here and it doesn't make sense to even think about it. That first year is a weird case. Some want to count it, others don't. You can make an argument either way. But it does tip the scales either way.

Obviously having success here should carry weight. One of the toughest jobs in the country based on history. A HOF coach goes to one bowl game here.

But if I am a P5 fan, I would be a bit skeptical of Arroyo for sure.

Either way, bowl game- you have to think about extending. MW championship game? 100%

How is UNLV a tough job? Why is SJSU, Utah State, San Diego State and Freaking Fresno not tough jobs? Arroyo landed on a new practice facility, new stadium and highest salary at a growing sports city. How is UNLV currently is a tough job? It’s because of remedial hiring practices by the admin. This is why UNLV has not been successful. Why can’t we get that Ex Arkansas coach here or Rick Pitino. Because we are Rebel in name only.

I think UNLV is a mixed bag. It’s a tough job because you can’t win here. It’s not such a tough job because there are no expectations and coaches get a longer leash.

Would you take 1 mill per year over the next 4 years if you had to grab only 6 wins? Yeah, we’d all do it.

When people think of the Rebels, they think Tark and dominance. We are definitely RINOS.

What P5 school will say oh its a covid year. Not winning a game is ok. And this is a tough job? C’mon on the real world you don’t close a fresh college graduate will take your job in a minute. UNLV may not have tradition but this is not a tough job. Fresno and Wyo that’s a tough job. Why are those schools winning year after year.

The facilities are new.
We've had 3 relatively successful coaches in our history.
Previously there was zero booster support.

The job is easier now granted, but it takes time to flip it..

Arroyo is in year three. Team is well positioned to make a bowl game.

At the start of the year that was the hope/expectation.

Fresno is not a tough job. Being in California with a massive state population allows for a lot of trickle down of high school talent.
