Anyone know why we withdrew from Maui?

I’m guessing it has to do with recent attendance and being less than confident that anyone will travel to watch the current shit show that is UNLV basketball..
This had nothing to do with a new coach. I think I posted it several weeks back.
UNLV will be in some NLI type of tournament instead.
Ok folks it looks like UNLV will be joining the players era NIL tournament at the mgm grand. I believe Baylor pulled out of the Maui tournament and joined the players era NIL. UNLV appears to be following suit.
It would cost UNLV about half a million to make the trip to Maui and there’s no benefit other than the name brand of the tournament. Much more cost effective and better opponents, better experience for players to earn money.

This is great news imo, I’d assume someone pulled out of the players era to make room for UNLV?
The players era tournament has been rumored to expand their current field from 16. So UNLV may be part of that expansion to 18 teams.
I don’t know who would be the other team but that’s a moot point for us.
Guess we’ll know the next team that withdrawals from an established tourney
Possibly giving the tournament 5 groupings instead 4 groups with uneven teams.
I’m sure this tourney will excite the new coach and the completely new cast of players.
