Anyone else pulling for Boise next week?

Interesting to see what happens with Danielson.

I'm sure at least an extension is coming his way, does his new contract exceed what Mullen just got?

It looks like all of the noteworthy open HC jobs are filled. I thought he could also get poached, but was waiting until the playoff game, but that ship has sailed.

Interesting article. UNLV was considered the 10th best available Job this offseason. Purdue was #4. Both Marshall and and ECU was rated ahead of us. I think we made signficantly better hires and I would imagine for more money as well.

I never thought hed get poached. I think people know who the real head of that team was in their OC and that Danielson basically ran a program that was "handoff to Jeanty" team. This was an interesting cycle because there wasnt that many big job openings and the ones that did open up got filled by either former HCs or big time names. We got lucky and signed probably the best hire of the cycle, yes I know Bill got the UNC job...

He definitely stepped into a good spot. He was already known to the players, had a foundation and had the best runner in the game.

True, bit Koetter was there before too when they were struggling. Boise got turned around last year the minute that Danielson took over. Granted Avalos could have been that bad, but Danielson deserves some credit.
I thought Danielson was getting a bit too much credit heading into this season. He was rated the top coach of the conference preseason which I didn't think he deserved, but I think he was by the end of the season that is for sure. He certainly earned it.
I mean the offense got better, even the defense got better after Avalos, a defensive minded head coach left.
Without Jeanty and Koetter, who knows what happens next season. A bit of a drop off is to be expected, but you could say the same thing about us when all of what made us successful is practically gone.

Boise definitely weathered the initial storm and then outplayed PSU for a good chunk of that game. They were moving the ball and limiting PSU to short drives. They just kept shooting themselves in the foot and couldn't convert when they needed to.
Penn State was the better team, that is for sure, but it was a competitive game.
It felt a lot like the Peach bowl. Similar lopsided start, with it changing momentum. except ASU was converting drives, converting 4th downs, and able to finally start punching it in, Boise couldn't quite get there.
That with ASU nearly pulling off the upset, and Oregon getting boatraced, I don't think there is enough evidence to totally change the rules because obviously the current format is broken.
Those "poor" teams that had to play that first round with big homefield advantages that all won their games and used that momentum for the quarterfinals, did just fine.
I still like rewarding conference champions, with giving superconferences that small disadvantage for chasing the money of the Big 2.
Yep exactly good comparison ASU finished and Boise did not. Boise outplayed them the 3rd quarter but too many mistakes. PSU obviously the better team but Boise was good and absolutely deserved to be there. Tennessee was the 3rd best team in the SEC according to the committee and polls I think Boise could beat them on a neutral field 4-5x out of 10.

I guess a reason for confidence on UNLV’s side is we have a proven guy, even if we lost a lot …. And they have a guy who I guess you could say is “proven”, he’s done well … but he’s a young coach without a lot of HC experience and he really is starting over … Mullen has done the recruiting thing and done well with it, ranked at multiple stops, big bowl games. Danielson has to fill really big shoes. Not saying he can’t or won’t, but it’s more of an unknown.

But until they are knocked from the top, they are the top. But I can’t think of a better parting gift than to uppercut them off that perch.
