This time the loss was by 18 instead of 17, but it was the same script as all of the other loses. UNLV comes out dead and digs a hole at the beginning of the game. The other teams starts to put their reserves into the game and UNLV slowly claws their way back into the game. The other team put the starters back in and pulls back away. UNLV v fill in the blank

This time it was Fresno State, but does it really matter?

Every game against a decent team UNLV is obviously out coached!

Embarrassing! That's all you can say.

The die is cast. This is way a Marvin Menzie program looks like and always will. He needs to go which is obvious to about anyone. Worse coach in program history for many many reasons.

Even if next year is better than this year, as bad as this year has been compared to last year, next year could still be a big drop off from last year which is not enough for UNLV to expect people to pay their high ticket prices. Funny how ticket prices are high compared to most of the rest of the conference even while the team sucks. Bouncing up and down like a ball doesn't work when when they barely get off the ground!

It’ll be different better is what I mean.

Did you guys hear something? Swear I heard something. It’s like a chirping sound. Can’t make it out but it’s definaty a chirp. Oh well.

Clyburn had a sick ass dunk though. He soared like an eagle on two defenders and flushed it. I was like f-it, at least that happened.

I would like to see how the current group of players develop over he next year. I think Hardy, Clyburn, and Diong have clearly upped their games from last year. If our coaching staff is responsible for that improvement, I would personally give MM another year to coach up the group of freshmen on this team.

I think we have ample evidence that panicking and changing coaches has not worked that great at UNLV.

If Kris could just finish a little more often with the layups when he gets to the hole, he would be one of the better players in the conference.

As for MM, I do not want to be in DRF shoes if MM continues to beat bad teams but get worked by good (or even average) teams. I am not a MM apologist. I never had a position on him when he was hired. I'm glad we landed him; I wasn't sure we would attract ANY coach after the Kris Bird Debacle. I see him as a Spoonhour type - middle of the road guy. Wont see post season often and if you do, wont go deep. But - BUT - next year you have Diong, JTT, Ntambwe, Hardy, and possibly Juice and Bryce Hamilton back next year. If they get better - IF - how good could the team be?

Here's what I don't want: this basketball program to become UNLV football where you hire and fire every 4 years to maintain HOPE. Because its the hope that keeps the season ticket holders returning and without the hope, you don't have a program. If we fire MM and hire a relative nobody - that would be a very tough pill to swallow and would test my loyalties to the program.

I love Diong’s athleticism and his hustle and attitude. He is good at putbacks and dunks. But, he is poor at scoring around the basket from ten feet in. Been here two years and still has no touch and scoring ability. Semi project.. Can’t have that at a program and fanbase that hates the slow build mentality. We need better players. If Menzies stays, he better step it up bigtime. I’m not sure our old time crowds will ever return with Menzies our coach. He just has zero charisma.

Good… or even average … and, um… well, flat out stinky teams too. And it’s not getting beat. It’s getting ditchstomped by those teams. We are losing by an average of almost 18 points in conference… and it’s a bad conference, it’s never been worse…

Nothing has changed again! UNLV blown out in the first half by reno and trying to make the game respectable in the second half.

Now imagine the exact same results next year!!

Give the guy an extension.:

The fact that there isn't even a thread for the biggest home game of the year says everything about the state of UNLV basketball. I could see SJSU size crowds next year if they keep Menzies. Hey, AD, you job is also on the line next month if you do nothing!

I don’t think they’ll ever dip that low, SJSU gets a couple hundred per game. It will drop, it’s easy to predict and I can go by feel with what I get via text, email, etc. When it started happening a few years ago, I chalked it up to frustration, people always say this but they still buy and show up, but this time they weren’t lying. They stopped buying and stopped going or they kept buying but didn’t go. Proof is in the pudding with our very meager attendance. Actual butts in seats has never been this low for an extended stretch. So when some text me or mail me saying they are done, time to by Knights tickets instead (or split with other people) or save for Raiders tickets, I believe it. Estimations of actual attendance this year is between 1500-2500 for every game beside UNR, SDSU and Cincy and those were between 6-8k. Even the 6-8k butts in seats is too low for an average, so that says how bad the 1500-2500 is.

It’s a money hemorrhage. Winning cures everything but we ain’t winning and because of that, people ain’t showing. Toss in that we don’t play anybody and we don’t generate any buzz through recruiting, scheduling, performance, etc, reason stands that it’s going to all continue.

If UNLV is fine with that, what can you do? Too many fans with shattered faith that are going to be really hard to get back. Slight or moderate improvement isn’t going to do it...

Ball is in UNLV’s court. What are they gonna do? Hail Mary and cross your fingers or be proactive?

They made a huge deal about hiring the current AD, who has done nothing yet, now we will find out if she is worth her money, or just more money tossed in the trash like for the new and now gone logo!
