After tonight....

Howland used UNLV 2x previously … just as Cronin and Rick used UNLV. UNLV is an easy mark for those sorts of things. And it’s not like Howland finished his career on some blaze of glory, he fizzled and Miss State was very ordinary.

Remember, Cronin had to be laughing inside deeply when he walked out of that office without a deal in place.
Can't disagree. UNLV is still dysfunctional. Before TKM and after TKM. Probably leads to conclusion there's more going on than just the AD. We are a total unicorn D1 school that hasn't quite figured it out yet. There is no other school that has the resources and also the uniform operational dysfunction all combined into one like UNLV. I can't really say what the answer is either.

Absolutely. The place isn’t conducive to any long term successes or grand visions.

Mentioned it before but UNLV is like the genius crackhead/alcoholic relative with enormous potentential that everyone tries to help, yet nobody can seem to break the code. Been here 30+ years. I'm stunned someone hasn't been able to make it happen yet at UNLV. It was frustrating 15 years ago. Now it's just borderline weird. I mean we have a huge D1 campus 30k+. A med school. A law school. Everything is right there for the taking.

Kinda tells me that we are systematically fractured deeply - almost like you need to clean house from top to bottom and infuse money to hires based on high merit. People that can get things done. And not grandfather in any of the bs that has existed for decades. The UNLV way doesn’t work.

Can't say how it is there anymore. But one of the bigger problems UNLV a long time ago was being enormously tied into BYU grads and their propensity to only want to hire mormons. Not sure if it is still now. No idea. Probably not. But back in the day there was a huge mormon thing going on at UNLV. Perk was a great example of this. You'll know.

Must be it, UNLV has gone down hill and their problems are because of the Mormons.
