MAYBE we hired the wrong Dave? Dave Rose would actually be a solid fit at UNLV. Now, I know how many people here hate BYU, and some probably don't like Rose, but aside from being a Mormon, Rose doesn't have a huge connection to BYU. He's not an alum. He played with Phi Slamma Jamma at the U of Houston. You have to give the guy credit, he's got a team that can score, but lacks the athletes to really compete. Why not come down I-15 to a place where he can get the athletes. I believe his salary is right at a million, or slightly under. So about what Rice made last year. Pony up $500k more, and bring in a proven coach like Rose.
He wouldn't, necessarily, be my first choice, but he'd be in my top 5.....it's worth a shot. He's been there a while, went through prostate cancer, and probably only has 10 years left in the coaching ranks....wouldn't be a bad move to see if there's interest there.
